Fundamentals of Technical Graphics concentrates on the main concepts and principles of technical graphics. The book is divided into two volumes: volume one contains chapters one to five, whereas volume two comprises of chapters six to ten. Volume one covers the topics of drafting guidelines, free hand sketching, computer design drafting (CDD) systems, geometric and shape construction, and standard multiview drawing creation. Volume two treats the topics of auxiliary views, section views, basic dimensioning, isometric drawings, and working drawings. The appendices provide introductory discussions about screw fasteners, general and geometric tolerancing, and surface quality and symbols. The book is written with current drafting standards of American National Standards Institute/American Society for Mechanical Engineers (ANSI/ASME) in mind. The style is plain and discussions are straight to the point. Its principle goal is meeting the needs of first- and second-year students in engineering, engineering technology, design technology, and related disciplines.

The Graphics Drawing Workbook is meant to be used with either Technical Graphics Communications 2nd Edition or Fundamentals of Graphics Communications 2nd Edition. However the workbook can be used with any good reference text including Graphics communication for engineers by this author. There are workbook problems for every major topic normally taught in an engineering or technical drawing course. Most of the problems can be drawn with instruments or sketched. a special emphasis has been put on freehand sketching in this workbook in response to the increased use of CAD in many technical drawing courses. It is expected that the instructor will supplement these problems with others from the text to fully reinforce technical drawing topics.

This collection offers a challenging new interpretation of technical knowledge in Chinese thought and practice. Conveying technical knowledge in China through charts, plans or drawings (tu) dates back to antiquity. Earlier studies focused on specialised forms of tu like maps or drawings of machines. Here, however, tu is identified in Chinese terms, viz. as a philosophical category of knowledge production: visual templates for action, spanning a range from mandala to modernist mapping projects, inseparable from writing but with distinctive powers of communication. A distinction is made between two principal types of tu: ritual/symbolic and representational, highlighting essential issues such as historical shifts in their significance, the relations between tu and political power, media for inscribing tu and the impact of printing, and encounters with the West.
