Dear Reader, This book is my life story. From the depths of depression, God's Spirit filled me with hope and inspiration to continue this journey called life. Depression is the name that accompanied overwhelming feelings of helplessness and hopelessness I had. I believe that my breakdown was God's way of stopping the insanity in my life and getting me the help I so desperately needed. I didn't realize how mentally sick I had become. In therapy, I went deep to the center of my soul. Through much pain and many tears and many years of hard work, I started cleaning out the ugliness, the pain, and the hatred that I had buried. My psychiatrist, caseworkers, group session members, my children, my friend Mary, and my extended family helped me work my way back to a healthy mental attitude and outlook on life. I feel I am a better listener, more patient, compassionate, and forgiving person. I have truly been blessed. I know that there are many who can relate to my story and life experiences. It is my prayer that my story through my journaling, thoughts and prayers, and poems will be of help to you. God, in all His glory, was with me always! True Kinsley

I'm helplessly lost in a desolate land called my mind. While being pursued by the Henchman called memories trying to bury me under the sands of time. If you are looking for traditional poetry, then Teardrops on my Pillow is not for you. If you want to maintain a naïve veil to what the less fortunate have to experience throughout their lives, then this book of poetry is not for you. If you want to read poetry that explores the harsh realities that this world has to offer, then you will be interested in what Scott Wood has to say. This book is a wild roller coaster ride of raw emotion—from love and happiness, heartache and pain, abuse, thoughts of murder and suicide, and betrayal, and the darkest sides of human nature. Bad things happen to good people, and Scott Wood is living testament to that. So if you're feeling like you're all alone and no one understands, this poetry will encourage you and show you that you're not the only one that suffers from heartache.

My health...failing, my marriage...failing, my mental...failing. I’ve seen it coming like it was in slow motion, yet I still felt powerless to stop any of it. I was making trips to urgent care and the emergency room like they were doctor’s appointments. My marriage was falling apart while I was still trying to cope with the loss of people that were close to me that I just never fully came to terms with. I found myself diagnosed as being in a depression by two doctors, as I didn’t want to accept the diagnosis the first time. I was a witness to my trip into darkness. This book does not focus on the events that brought me to this dark place but more so on the mental frame and emotional state I held when I found myself in the darkness. We like to document our trips in the physical realm with pictures and videos. This collection of poetry will be my attempt to document my journey in the mental and emotional realm—from darkness to new hope. In the end, your darkest place may lead you to your greatest blessings. The message here is to always keep fighting.
