"Celebrating Nature on the Seven Continents: A Photographic Journey Around the World" takes readers on a stunning journey to experience the beauty of nature and wildlife. Written by Sunil and Vani, a nature and wildlife enthusiast couple, the book features hundreds of breathtaking images and personal stories from their travels through rainforests, savannahs, deserts, the Arctic tundra, and the pristine wilderness of Antarctica. Sunil, who as a teenager viewed the world through the lens of his camera with his first prized possession - Zenit TTL, a 35mm film SLR camera made in the USSR, shares his passion for wildlife and photography with readers. Vani, inspired by Jane Goodall's work, meticulously researched and planned this journey to fragile habitats to better understand the wild. Their journey begins in Alaska and takes them across both the Arctic and Antarctic circles before ending in the southernmost national park of Tierra del Fuego in Argentina. Along the way, Sunil and Vani carry two camera backpacks and a few sets of clothes, savoring the unexpected moments and experiencing a deep humility in the face of nature's splendor. In addition to providing breathtaking images and personal stories, the book also offers practical information on researching destinations, packing for a variety of climates and destinations, photography gear and tips, and the logistics of planning a journey around the world. It is a must-read for anyone interested in exploring the rich and colorful biodiversity of our planet.

The haunting story of an extraordinary Aboriginal woman. Winner of the National Biography Award 2021 Shortlisted for the Prime Minister's Award for Non-fiction 2021 'A compelling story, beautifully told' - JULIA BAIRD, author and broadcaster 'At last, a book to give Truganini the proper attention she deserves.' - GAYE SCULTHORPE, Curator of Oceania, The British Museum Cassandra Pybus's ancestors told a story of an old Aboriginal woman who would wander across their farm on Bruny Island, in south-east Tasmania, in the 1850s and 1860s. As a child, Cassandra didn't know this woman was Truganini, and that Truganini was walking over the country of her clan, the Nuenonne. For nearly seven decades, Truganini lived through a psychological and cultural shift more extreme than we can imagine. But her life was much more than a regrettable tragedy. Now Cassandra has examined the original eyewitness accounts to write Truganini's extraordinary story in full. Hardly more than a child, Truganini managed to survive the devastation of the 1820s, when the clans of south-eastern Tasmania were all but extinguished. She spent five years on a journey around Tasmania, across rugged highlands and through barely penetrable forests, with George Augustus Robinson, the self-styled missionary who was collecting the survivors to send them into exile on Flinders Island. She has become an international icon for a monumental tragedy - the so-called extinction of the original people of Tasmania. Truganini's story is inspiring and haunting - a journey through the apocalypse. 'For the first time a biographer who treats her with the insight and empathy she deserves. The result is a book of unquestionable national importance.' - PROFESSOR HENRY REYNOLDS, University of Tasmania

Undiscovered Tasmania is your travel guide to the real Tasmania. Beyond the usual tourist attractions, this small island is brimming with special places to see and experience, and locals Rochelle and Wally Dare are here to let visitors in on their secrets. This isn’t your typical guidebook. Rochelle and Wally will take you deep into the Corinna Wilderness, along stretches of beautiful beaches and to their favourite places to camp. Sections include 'Beaches We Barefoot' (but NOT including Wineglass Bay), 'Roads We Trip', 'Towns We Explore' and 'Wildlife We Respect'. There's also advice for travelling on Tasmanian roads, a road toolkit, stories of locals and a focus on Tassie’s burgeoning food scene, from farm-to-plate restaurants to the best fish and chips in the state. Many experiences are uniquely Tasmanian like the Floating Sauna on Lake Derby, while the diversity of landscapes include the moon-like mining town of Queenstown and the rolling green hills of King Island that make it so perfect for dairy products. Featuring Rochelle's stunning photography throughout, this guide will take you to those places that fly under the radar, but represent the ultimate travel destinations across the Apple Isle. They're hidden gems and places that Rochelle and Wally hold dear in their hearts.

We had seen the island from a distance, read as much as we could about the island's history and heard about all the grass. We knew the scenery would be spectacular, the Southern Ocean swells an awesome sight, the wind a constant and that we would be alone. We did think the cold and wind might get us down at times but never having been on Maatsuyker, we couldn't quite imagine what it might be like. We just knew it would be different - which is in part, why we wanted to go. We went without any real expectations or imaginings, and found it was wild, spectacular and grand. We also found calm, peacefulness and joy.Island life was physically hard compared to home, but we thrived in that environment, living moment to moment. Never alone, the island birds were our companions and the seals' antics made us feel part of a family, bringing our own family closer; and through our care the lighthouse and island become our friends too.

A special slipcased edition of Southern Light. This collection of striking images from Antarctica and the sub-Antarctic is the result of six journeys made by Australian photographer David Neilson in his quest to capture the exquisite light of these southernmost lands. Between 2002 and 2008 he made three voyages from Ushuaia in southern Argentina to the Antarctic and the sub-Antarctic. In 2002 he sailed on the yacht Tooluka to the remote sub-Antarctic island of South Georgia in the middle of the South Atlantic. This heavily glaciated island with numerous high alpine peaks has a remarkable profusion of wildlife along its coasts. In 2006, and again in 2008, he sailed on the yacht Australis to the Antarctic Peninsula. This best-known part of Antarctica contains some of the most spectacular scenery anywhere on the planet and provides many opportunities for photographing scenes of exceptional drama and beauty.
