This adventure novel is the ninth in the series and picks up where the action left off in 'Tarzan the Terrible'. Tarzan, Jane and their son Korak find an orphaned lion club, which Tarzan decides to take home and train. However when news gets out of Tarzan's discovery of the treasure chamber in the lost city, plots are concocted to try and steal his fortune. After he is captured and held captive by thieves, the race is on for him to try and save the gold and the diamonds. Popularized by Disney's animated adventure film from 1999, ́Tarzan ́ is Edgar Rice Burroughs’ much-beloved series of a child who is brought up by apes in the lush African jungle. Burroughs ́ novels about the feral ape-man in the loincloth cover his adventures in the jungle, his confrontations with civilization, and his kinship with both apes and humans. Edgar Rice Burroughs (1875-1950) was an American author, best known for his novel ‘Tarzan of the Apes’ (1914) and its sequels as well as the Barsoom series. During World War II, he was one of the oldest U.S war correspondents.

In a stunning reimagining of history, debut author Caroline Tung Richmond weaves an incredible story of secrets and honor in a world where the Axis powers won World War II. In a world where the Axis powers won WWII, the US has been divided up by the victors and the eastern half has fallen under oppressive Nazi rule for nearly 70 years. 16-year-old Zara longs for an America she's only read about -- free from persecution for being a non-Aryan. And she's not alone. The rumblings of a revolution have started, and Zara finds herself drawn into a rebel group determined to overthrow the Third Reich. When Bastian, the charming son an SS officer, approaches Zara about joining the Alliance, she denies all knowledge. Yet Bastian is determined, and Zara quickly decides it'll be easier to keep an eye on an enemy if she knows where he is. Especially since Zara has a dangerous secret that, if discovered by the Nazis, would land her in either a labor camp or a grave. But her secret might very well be the key to taking down the Fuhrer. Can Zara and the Alliance topple the Third Reich for good, or will Bastian betray her, forcing Zara to pay the ultimate price for freedom?

Edgar Rice Burroughs was an American fiction writer best known for his celebrated and prolific output in the adventure and science-fiction genres. Among the most notable of his creations are the jungle hero Tarzan, the heroic Mars adventurer John Carter, and the fictional landmass within Earth known as Pellucidar. Tarzan had been betrayed. Drugged and helpless, he was delivered into the hands of the dreadful priests of Opar, last bastion of ancient Atlantis. La, High Priestess of the Flaming God, had saved him once again, driven by her hopeless love for the ape-man. But now she was betrayed and threatened by her people. To save her, Tarzan fled with her into the legendary Valley of Diamonds, while Jad-bal-ja, his faithful golden lion, followed. Ahead lay a land where savage gorillas ruled over servile men. And behind, Estaban Miranda--who looked exactly like Tarzan--plotted further treachery.

SABOR, the lioness, suckled her young--a single fuzzy ball, spotted like Sheeta, the leopard. She lay in the warm sunshine before the rocky cavern that was her lair, stretched out upon her side with half closed eyes, yet Sabor was alert. There had been three of these little, fuzzy balls at first--two daughters and a son--and Sabor and Numa, their sire, had been proud of them; proud and happy. But kills had not been plentiful, and Sabor, undernourished, had been unable to produce sufficient milk to nourish properly three lusty cubs, and then a cold rain had come, and the little ones had sickened. Only the strongest survived--the two daughters had died. Sabor had mourned, pacing to and fro beside the pitiful bits of bedraggled fur, whining and moaning. Now and again she would nose them with her muzzle as though she would awaken them from the long sleep that knows no waking. At last, however, she abandoned her efforts, and now her whole savage heart was filled with concern for the little male cub that remained to her. That was why Sabor was more alert than usual.Numa, the lion, was away. Two nights before he had made a kill and dragged it to their lair and last night he had fared forth again, but he had not returned. Sabor was thinking, as she half dozed, of Wappi, the plump antelope, that her splendid mate might this very minute be dragging through the tangled jungle to her. Or perhaps it would be Pacco, the zebra, whose flesh was the best beloved of her kind--juicy, succulent Pacco. Sabor's mouth watered.
