This volume contains the papers which have been accepted for presentation atthe Third International Symposium on Programming Language Implementation andLogic Programming (PLILP '91) held in Passau, Germany, August 26-28, 1991. The aim of the symposium was to explore new declarative concepts, methods and techniques relevant for the implementation of all kinds of programming languages, whether algorithmic or declarative ones. The intention was to gather researchers from the fields of algorithmic programming languages as well as logic, functional and object-oriented programming. This volume contains the two invited talks given at the symposium by H. Ait-Kaci and D.B. MacQueen, 32 selected papers, and abstracts of several system demonstrations. The proceedings of PLILP '88 and PLILP '90 are available as Lecture Notes in Computer Science Volumes 348 and 456.

This book constitutes the proceedings of the 19th International Conference on Logic for Programming, Artificial Intelligence and Reasoning, LPAR-19, held in December 2013 in Stellenbosch, South Africa. The 44 regular papers and 8 tool descriptions and experimental papers included in this volume were carefully reviewed and selected from 152 submissions. The series of International Conferences on Logic for Programming, Artificial Intelligence and Reasoning (LPAR) is a forum where year after year, some of the most renowned researchers in the areas of logic, automated reasoning, computational logic, programming languages and their applications come to present cutting-edge results, to discuss advances in these fields and to exchange ideas in a scientifically emerging part of the world.

This is the second in a series of workshops that are bringing together researchers from the theoretical end of both the logic programming and artificial intelligence communities to discuss their mutual interests. This workshop emphasizes the relationship between logic programming and non-monotonic reasoning.Luis' Moniz Pereira is Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the Universidade Nova Lisboa, Portugal. Anil Nerode is Professor and Director of the Mathematical Sciences Institute at Cornell University.Topics include: Stable Semantics. Autoepistemic Logic. Abduction. Implementation Issues. Well-founded Semantics. Truth Maintenance. Probabilistic Theories. Applications. Default Logic. Diagnosis. Complexity and Theory. Handling Inconsistency.

Topics covered: Theoretical Foundations. Higher-Order Logics. Non-Monotonic Reasoning. Programming Methodology. Programming Environments. Extensions to Logic Programming. Constraint Satisfaction. Meta-Programming. Language Design and Constructs. Implementation of Logic Programming Languages. Compilation Techniques. Architectures. Parallelism. Reasoning about Programs. Deductive Databases. Applications. 13-16 June 1995, Tokyo, Japan ICLP, which is sponsored by the Association for Logic Programming, is one of two major annual international conferences reporting recent research results in logic programming. Logic programming originates from the discovery that a subset of predicate logic could be given a procedural interpretation which was first embodied in the programming language, Prolog. The unique features of logic programming make it appealing for numerous applications in artificial intelligence, computer-aided design and verification, databases, and operations research, and for exploring parallel and concurrent computing. The last two decades have witnessed substantial developments in this field from its foundation to implementation, applications, and the exploration of new language designs. Topics covered: Theoretical Foundations. Higher-Order Logics. Non-Monotonic Reasoning. Programming Methodology. Programming Environments. Extensions to Logic Programming. Constraint Satisfaction. Meta-Programming. Language Design and Constructs. Implementation of Logic Programming Languages. Compilation Techniques. Architectures. Parallelism. Reasoning about Programs. Deductive Databases.
