These easy experiments illustrate the laws of nature, teach Bible principles, and affirm God's power as Creator. With catchy or unexpected results, the demonstrations make Bible truth unforgettable. Excerpt from Ten Lessons in Sunday-School Science: A Manual for the Use of Normal Classes This little book is designed to help Sunday-school teachers who, feeling the need of aid along lines of study lying outside of the text-book which they teach, but which are no less necessary to be followed, are willing to put forth definite and systematic efforts in the direction Whither they lead. Briefly these lines of study lead to questions concerning the Sunday school itself as an institution, the scholar as an immor tal being with a destiny dependent upon character, the teacher as circumscribed and limited by the nature both of the school and (f the scholar, and the work it self, as conditioned upon certain fixed-laws, and aided by certain necessary adjuncts. Most of the matter which is here presented is doubtless not new. Its form, however, is new, and is the result of many years of teaching and of study in both secular and Sunday schools. For convenience' sake, the topics discussed have been arranged in ten lessons, with the thought that they would thus serve' for ten consecutive morn ing or afternoon sessions at any of our Sunday-school assemblies. A synopsis of'each lesson precedes the lesson itself. It is suggested that all students should thoroughly master these synopses, if not by actual memorizing, by Some other equivalent process. In. Excerpt from The Pedagogical Bible School: A Scientific Study of the Sunday School, With Chief Reference to the Curriculum It is a real pleasure for me to accede to Mr. Haslett's request that I write a word of introduction to his book. A good part of the work was done while the author was attending my seminary and taking lectures in Clark University. While I cannot say that I agree with Mr. Haslett in all points, I do believe that the spirit and method of his work mark a noteworthy advance in Sunday-school work and are emphatic protests against many abuses and antipedagogical methods now widely in use. The writer takes the standpoint of the religious and moral nature and needs of the child, has studied the Sunday-school and the literature upon it for years with great diligence and has here written a book sure to benefit all Sunday-school workers who read it. The plain precepts of common sense seem to suggest that in a large general way the order of the books in both the Old and the New Testament as they stand are genetic and pedagogic.
