Lorna Dee Cervantes is a pivotal figure throughout the Chicano literary movement and this book gathers 30 years' worth of essays and articles about her as well as interviews with her. A fifth-generation Californian of Mexican and Native American (Chumasch) heritage, Cervantes is widely considered one of the most important Latina poets who drew tremendous power from her struggles in the literary and political trenches. This work explores the boundaries between language and experience and features a new collection of poems by the dynamic poet.

Mark 13:23 "23 But take heed; behold, I have told you everything in advance." The Bible shares 24 specific sequential end time prophecies. These signs are designed to clarify what God is doing today and why, and to offer comfort for informed Christians. Beginning in 1914, the first 12 prophecies have been fulfilled. All of mankind has witnessed them. The final 12 will soon arrive for us to see. They guide us in a straight path to His spectacular 24th prophecy-two earth-shattering events within one 24-hour day. The next prophetic sign is the thirteenth in sequence. God alone, without help from humanity, will rescue Israel from all impending travail their neighboring enemies are planning to impose upon them. Incredible spectacular events are on the near horizon. All mankind will be STUNNED, either in terror or astonishment. GOD'S DESIRE, ASTONISHMENT!

The Pope, devotion to Mary, confession ... just where are these topics in the Bible? Why does the Catholic Church seem to focus on so many things that aren’t Scriptural? Or so thought former Protestant pastor John Bergsma. Stunned by Scripture: How the Bible Made Me Catholic is an engaging examination of the things Dr. Bergsma once considered obstacles to ever becoming Catholic himself. Over an eighteen-month spiritual journey, Bergsma was stunned again and again by the biblical support he found for even the stickiest teachings of the Catholic Church. Weaving his personal story into clear explanations of Catholic teachings as found in Scripture, Dr. Bergsma explores seven key Catholic doctrines, including: The Pope Devotion to Mary Confession The Eucharist The priesthood Belief in the Bible alone Salvation by faith alone theologies Stunned by Scripture will help Catholics understand, defend, and explain the biblical basis for the Faith and show them how the Bible solidly supports even the most frequently misunderstood Catholic teachings.

This second volume of papers dealing with scientific and ethical aspects of animal welfare covers a variety of topics and areas of inves tigation. It will be of particular interest to those readers seeking more insight into such subjects as farm animal welfare and humane husbandry systems; animal experimentation, especially in the field of psychology; and pain in animals, notably its recognition and alleviation. Several of our selections deal with very specific subjects that are germane to animal welfare: the use of T-61 for euthanizing cats and dogs, a new humane method of stunning for livestock and poultry, an innovative alternative to killing animals for rabies diagnosis, alterna tives to aversive procedures in teaching experimental psychology, and the need for improved theoretical modeling in animal experimentation and research design. Following the precedent set in the first volume of Advances in Animal Welfare Science, we have included several papers dealing with people's attitudes toward animals. These papers range from a consider ation of cultural influences and veterinary ethics to an examination of anthropomorphism, to a discussion of the linkage between the environ mental politics and perceptions of the Green Movement and animal welfare and rights. We wish to express our gratitude to the Manuscript Review Commit tee for the excellent work they have done and to the twenty contributors to this volume which we believe will do much to advance the science of animal welfare, and the well-being of animals under man's dominion.
