A scifi alien romance with fated mates on an aphrodisiac planet. I’m trapped on a spaceship with a sex god. I’ve dreamt of him every night since I landed on this forsaken sex planet. Every breath I take here is an aphrodisiac to my blood. I am not fully human, I am part alien, and the planet has awakened my body’s instinct to find a mate. The next person I have sex with I will form an attachment for life, which is impossible for him—the Sex God. Mating a polyamorous alien would ruin me. I can never have him, no matter how much I burn for him. But I need his help. My best friend was taken prisoner by our enemies, and he’s the only person with a ship fast enough to save her. And all those dreams I’ve been having about him, it turns out they aren’t just dreams. They’re real. He can dream walk, so if I can’t have him while I’m awake, at least I can have him in my dreams—as if that will ever be enough. With one call, her daughter’s life is on the line. Laurie Ahmadi has worked as a 911 police dispatcher in her quiet Northern California town for almost two decades, but nothing in her nearly twenty years of experience could prepare her for the worst call of her career—her teenage daughter, Jojo, is on the other end of the line. She is drugged, disoriented, and in pain, and even though the whole police department springs into action, there is nothing Laurie can do to help. Jojo, who has been sexually assaulted, doesn’t remember how she ended up at the home of Kevin Leeds, a pro football player famous for his work with the Citizens Against Police Brutality movement, though she insists he would never hurt her. And she has no idea where her best friend, Harper, who was with her earlier in the evening, could be. As Jojo and Laurie begin digging into Harper’s private messages on social media to look for clues to her whereabouts, they uncover a conspiracy far bigger than they ever could have imagined. With Kevin’s freedom on the line and the chances of finding Harper unharmed slipping away, Laurie and Jojo begin to realize that they can’t trust anyone to find Harper except themselves, not even the police department they’ve long considered family . . . and time is running out.

Ten years ago we said goodbye. I left the world I knew to create a new life for myself. Away from the lies. Away from the pain. It was all going as planned until a friend asked for help with her club. The business was liberating. The company was intoxicating. Two masked men became my euphoria. One was a player deep in the game. A teacher both intimately and figuratively. The other was a quiet director. A man who tempted me with his stares and set me on fire with his dark whispers. His secrecy excited me, bringing me to levels I've never imagined. I thought we were playing a game, but little did I know he knew exactly who I was. I just wish I figured out his true identity before I fell for his best friend. * Falling Into the Black is a standalone novel with an HEA.

A scifi alien romance with fated mates on an aphrodisiac planet I’ve crash landed on a sex planet with my worst enemy. He’s a brooding, gold alien—a commander who destroyed my ship and half my crew. I should want to kill him. But everything on this planet is an aphrodisiac. So I just want to have him. Now. "Revenge--that's all he wants with me. He’s hated humans for more than a century, ever since we tried to destroy his kind." I’m the last person he should want, but the desire the sex planet stokes in both of us is eating us alive. Resisting his hands, his mouth, and his vampiric fangs proves impossible. I can’t help begging him to touch me. I have no idea what endless sex with his kind will do to me, but there are rumors. I have to get off this planet before I find out if it’s true—before he makes me his mate. For life. The Planet of Desire is a series of scifi alien romance standalones that can be read in any order. Michel Foucault's History of Sexuality has been one of the most influential books of the last two decades. It has had an enormous impact on cultural studies and work across many disciplines on gender, sexuality, and the body. Bringing a new set of questions to this key work, Ann Laura Stoler examines volume one of History of Sexuality in an unexplored light. She asks why there has been such a muted engagement with this work among students of colonialism for whom issues of sexuality and power are so essential. Why is the colonial context absent from Foucault's history of a European sexual discourse that for him defined the bourgeois self? In Race and the Education of Desire, Stoler challenges Foucault's tunnel vision of the West and his marginalization of empire. She also argues that this first volume of History of Sexuality contains a suggestive if not studied treatment of race. Drawing on Foucault's little-known 1976 College de France lectures, Stoler addresses his treatment of the relationship between biopower, bourgeois sexuality, and what he identified as "racisms of the state." In this critical and historically grounded analysis based on cultural theory and her own extensive research in Dutch and French colonial archives, Stoler suggests how Foucault's insights have in the past constrained--and in the future may help shape--the ways we trace the genealogies of race. Race and the Education of Desire will revise current notions of the connections between European and colonial historiography and between the European bourgeois order and the colonial treatment of sexuality. Arguing that a history of European nineteenth-century sexuality must also be a history of race, it will change the way we think about Foucault.
