The information is presented in a clear, uncluttered manner for direct and easy use. For each entry, all practical data are listed: city, postal and electronic-mail addresses, telephone and fax numbers, URLs for WWW access, foundation years, numbers of members and/or numbers of staff, main activities, publications titles (with frequencies, ISS-Numbers and circulations), names and geographical coordinates of observing sites, names of planetariums, awards (prizes and/or distinctions) granted, etc. The entries are listed alphabetically in each country. An exhaustive index gives a breakdown not only by different designations and acronyms, but also by location and major terms in names. Thematic sub-indices are also provided as well as a list of telephone and telefax national codes. In short, almost anyone involved in any way in the fields of astronomy and related space sciences will find invaluable contact and background information in this volume. Genre: Best books
ISBN: 9781856044950

The New Walford highlights the best resources to use when undertaking a search for accurate and relevant information, saving you precious time and effort. For those looking for a selective and evaluative reference resource that really delivers on its promise, look no further. In addition to print sources, The New Walford naturally covers an extensive range of e-reference sources such as digital databanks, digital reference services, electronic journal collections, meta-search engines, networked information services, open archives, resource discovery services and websites of premier organizations in both the public and private sectors. But rather than supplying a list of all available known resources as a web search engine might, The New Walford subject specialists have carefully selected and evaluated available resources to provide a definitive list of the most appropriate and useful. With an emphasis on quality and sustainability, the subject specialists have been careful to assess the differing ways that information is framed and communicated in different subject areas. As a result the resource evaluations in each subject area are prefaced by an introductory overview of the structure of the relevant literature. This ensures that The New Walford is clear, easy-to-use and intuitive. - Publisher.

The chemicals from plant sources, generally termed as phytochemicals, play an important role in acceptance or rejection of the plant by the pests as they could be distasteful or toxic on one hand or on the other hand specialist herbivores have the capability to feed on many such chemicals, as they are able to process these natural products in a manner that is beneficial to them. In the wake of increasing environmental degradation due to burgeoning synthetic chemicals, there has been a process going on to rediscover the usefulness of plants and herbs and a continued effort for more than 2 decades has been to study the green products for cures for several ailments and pest management. In fact, according to Indian Medicinal Plants: A Sectoral Study, the global trade for medicinal plants amounts to about US $ 60 billion and the world demand continues to grow at the rate of 7 per cent per annum. Although many such plants are known in literature, neem has been one of trees with mani-fold virtues. Indian neem tree, Azadirachta indica A. Juss, which is a large evergreen tree, is an outstanding example among plants that has been subject matter of numerous scientific studies concerning its utilization in medicine, industry and agriculture. So far neem preparations have been evaluated against more than 500 species of insects and more than 400 hundred are reported to be susceptible at different concentrations.
