Multilateral Development Banks (MDB) were established to provide financial support for projects and programs designed to promote social and economic progress in developing countries. Under the FY 2001 Foreign Operations, Export Financing, and Related Programs Appropriations Act (Public Law 106-429), the U.S. is providing approx. $1.3 billion to support the missions of the MDBs discussed in this report.
