Excerpt from Saint Louis Clinical Record, 1882, Vol. 8: An Independent Journal of Medicine and Surgery All the experiments of Wegner have been instituted upon the healthy perito neum of rabbits, said to be more vulnerable than that of man. At least not less so. Experience has disclosed numerous ex amples demonstrating the great tenacity of the peritoneum of man to resist the effects of injuries and traumatic action. Chiene, Of Edinburgh, lays claims to unsurpassed results in herniotomy, notwithstanding he places a drain-tube in the hernial sac in such a way that one extremity protrudes into the abdomen. And this reminds me that it was time I had announced in more explicit terms, the subject of my re marks this evening. I will therefore beg you to bear with me, while we inquire as briefly as possible, What is like legitimate scope of gynecology? This is a broad question, full of sugges tions, but perhaps there is none which we may more appropri ately consider on the present occasion, in connection with the aim and object of this organization. I do not see how an incubator could be constructed to remedy this entirely. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
