All publications that addressed mental retardation in conjunction with a behavioral, psychiatric, or emotional disorder were included. In addition, reports that described, or provided critiques of such instruments, for assessing psychopathology or behavioral disorders in mental retardation were also included. Emphasis is on the description, assessment, and epidemiology of psychiatric, behavior, or emotional problems in mentally retarded persons rather than on the treatment of such persons.
