The imperfect would not be so if it was not in need of help, and such guidance must come beyond itself. The perfect is not perfect if He cannot assert Himself or help the imperfect ones, and that must be of His own sweet will. So the guidance to spiritual perfection and to perfect love is by definition a function of the Perfect Being, the sweet Absolute Truth Śrī Krishna. And Krishna's divine agent through whom this function manifests is Śrī Guru, the spiritual guide. In the talks therein, Prabhupad Śrīla Premgopal Goswami of the Śrī Nityananda Vamśa - the line of Gurus descending directly from Lord Nityananda - gives beautifully compelling explanations of Guru tattva, the spiritual principle of Śrī Guru. Guru is not a person, Guru is a tattva, the embodiment of spiritual truth who links us to transcendental reality and guides us back home to the spiritual realm of pure love. Our prayer is that the faithful readers will find divine inspiration for their spiritual practice within the pages of this book.

In Volume three of the “It Is The Same Light” series (SGGS pages 401-600), author Daljit Singh Jawa continues his humble effort to share the beauty of the SGGS with those who have limited familiarity with the language (Gurumukhi), history, or context. The following are some of the comments received on the volume 1 (pages 1-200 of SGGS): “This translation of Guru Granth Sahib is one of the best English translations in my view, as it is in simple understandable English, each shabad’s summary message is given, there is connection between the shabads to reveal continuity of thought process in Guru ji’s message. Thanks to S Daljit Singh ji for the great work which will benefit future generations understand Guru Ji’s message easily.” -Amarjit Singh, M.D., University at Buffalo, Buffalo, NY “A monumental undertaking, reflecting a lifetime of devotion to the Sri Guru Granth Sahib and to the scholarly study of its voluminous texts. Both its rendition of the original Gurmukhi script, with accompanying English transliteration, and its erudite commentary on each of the Granth’s many hymns mark this work as a stunning achievement which will benefit all serious students of the Sikh religion and of world religions in general.” -Barry Crawford, Ph.D., Washburn University, Topeka, Kansas

Translation of the Sikh Religion Holy Scriptures The Guru Granth Sahib , or Adi Granth, is the religious Scriptures of Sikhism. It is a voluminous text of 1430 pages, compiled and composed during the period of Sikh Gurus, from 1469 AD to 1708 AD. Guru Gobind Singh (1666–1708), the Tenth and final living Guru, affirmed the sacred text Adi Granth as his successor, elevating it to Guru Granth Sahib. The text remains the holy scripture of the Sikhs, regarded as the teachings of the Ten Gurus. The Adi Granth was first compiled by the Fifth Sikh Guru, Guru Arjan Dev (1563–1606), from Hymns of the first five Sikh Gurus and other Saints of that era, including those of the Hindu and Muslim faith.

An embodiment of love, Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar is a rare combination of stillness and dance, silence and song, wisdom and humour. He lives his life with simplicity, effortlessness and joy. Knowledge flows, he sings with all his heart, dances in ecstacy, cooks and serves in the kitchen, plays with children, squirts water on the unsuspecting and pushes unpushed buttons with the glee of a child. Guru means ‘dispeller of darkness’. He has lit up the lives of more than 300 million people worldwide and steered them on the spiritual path. Every person feels at home with him- the village artisan, the student, the sceptic, the agnostic, the housewife, the corporate trainer, the national leader, the farmer and the fruit vendor on the street... Sri Sri As I Know Him is a book where people who have grown this movement open up about their personal experiences of and with Gurudev. Some anecdotes will make you laugh while others will moisten your eyes and your heart will want to burst with love for him. You’ll feel the familiar rush of gratitude with some and envy with others when you see him so personally involved in their lives. What this book conveys is the awe and the amazement, the joy and the laughter. One has to be there to experience it. For those who have experienced him, it will bring back the memories and help to relive it. For those whom this is the first...a journey begins
