Philip (sometimes Phillip) Heinrich (1821-1893) came to New York from Frankfurt, Germany, where he had been a type founder. He opened his own foundry in 1855, supplying types for German language newspapers, but later expanded to manufacture a full array of types. In 1889, he sold his company to the Manhattan Type Foundry. This catalog, although dated 1886, is probably the 1878 specimen book. It includes: type metal, cuts, ornaments, and rule. It has an extensive selection of German type. Includes general price list for type and equipment, as well as a separate list for presses not advertised in the catalog.
