Everyday Christians need practical and accessible theology. In this handbook first published in 1890, Charles Octavius Boothe simply and beautifully lays out the basics of theology for common people. "Before the charge 'know thyself,'" Boothe wrote, "ought to come the far greater charge, 'know thy God.'" He brought the heights of academic theology down to everyday language, and he helps us do the same today. Plain Theology for Plain People shows that evangelicalism needs the wisdom and experience of African American Christians. Walter R. Strickland II reintroduces this forgotten masterpiece for today. Lexham Classics are beautifully typeset new editions of classic works. Each book has been carefully transcribed from the original texts, ensuring an accurate representation of the writing as the author intended it to be read.

"The Right Order of Things" is life ordered with God at the center and everything else deriving its meaning and direction from that vital center. Life is about relationships: my relationship with God, with myself, and with others. And, life is either good or less than good depending upon the quality of those relationships. That is what the Bible is about. It is what the Christian faith is about. And, it is what this book is about.

Sex matters. Yet even deeper than the urge for sex is the desire for love. More than sexual, we are relational: meant for true and intimate relationship with each other and with God.Rather than a ?casual indoor sport,? sex is sacred. And John Paul II?s radical perspective on how we view life, love, and sexuality can transform our relationships into profound experiences of communion. This is a simple introduction to the basic premise of Theology of the Body. It explains how our bodies are symbolic, free, meant for love, and redeemed by Christ. It presents unambiguous reasons for the Church?s teaching on premarital sex, contraception, homosexuality, pornography, and more. And it gives reason to hope that the love we crave so deeply is, in fact, promised us by God?from the beginning.?Theology of the Body Made Simple is dynamite. Reading it can change your life. An awesome job!? ?Adam Morris, Catholic Youth Ministry, Canberra-GoulburnRev. Anthony Percy is a priest of the Archdiocese of Canberra & Goulburn, Australia. His doctorate in Sacred Theology is from the John Paul II Institute in Washington, D.C.

And he brought them out and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? --Acts 16:30 In this age of pluralism, universalism, and anything-goes-ism, the truth concerning biblical salvation is under attack even in many of our churches. In Salvation: God's Greatest Miracle, Clay A. Kahler presents the biblical teaching of salvation in clear, concise, and logical terms. God, the creator and sustainer of the universe, lovingly and intentionally provided all that is needed for the reconciliation of man to Himself, through Jesus Christ. In this book you will learn what God's plan of salvation is and how to receive it for yourself. Paul the apostle tells us that peace, joy, and hope are ours for the taking, through the gospel. Kahler approaches this most important biblical doctrine in his typical no-nonsense, plain-talking style. It is a must-read for all who are saved and for those who are struggling with the idea of salvation.

THEOLOGY FOR BEGINNERS FRANK SHEED — A Catholic Classic! — Includes Linked Headings, Index and Table of Contents — Includes Religious Illustrations Publisher: Available in Paperback: ISBN-13: 978-1-78379-502-4 “Not on bread alone doth man live,” said Christ Our Lord, quoting Deuteronomy to the Devil. Everybody knows the phrase, and most people tend to complete it according to their own fancy of what is most important to the hungry soul of man. But it had its own completion in Deuteronomy and Our Lord reminded the Devil of that too—“but by every word that proceedeth from the mouth of God.” Revealed truth, then, is food. Now it is a peculiarity of food that it nourishes only those who eat it. We are not nourished by the food that someone else has eaten. To be nourished by it, we must eat it ourselves. Christianity and the learning of Jesus is by far the most simplistic of all religions for bringing one to a saving faith. However, man has once again managed to complicate the simplicity of the gospel. Many who are not of the Christian faith and desire to learn are at times intimidated by the many different denominations and doctrines which appear to be within the Christian church. Pastor Townsend, although somewhat of a theologian himself, possesses the unique ability of taking mentally demanding theological concepts and transforming them into easy to understand everyday language. After reading this book you will be inspired to place your faith and trust in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior without the entanglement of religious and theological mental gymnastics. In this book you will learn: ? Revelation Knowledge The Gift that Must Be Given ? The Holy Trinity When You See One You See Them All ? Works vs.- Righteousness The Pathway for Entering His Rest" ? Getting Yoked-Up with Jesus The Importance of Finding Rest In Relationship with Christ ? How To Be Saved Today
