Sharon was born on April 15, 1946, at the end of World War II. Her father worked for the Veterans Administration, until he retired, and mother worked as a cosmetologist. Sharon was raised in Santa Monica, CA where she integrated her elementary school and, along with her mother, was faced with racism on a daily basis. Sharon was a child prodigy, blessed with an operatic voice, singing at school events and church socials. Her family worked hard to provide her with piano lessons from the age of five years old. Sharon grew into a blossoming teenager whose parents instilled a strong sense of self-worth and a spiritual foundation. Her parents encouraged her to work in church, experiencing her first job as the organist of her Sunday School choir and director from the age of thirteen. At the age of 15, she experienced her home being taken by eminent domain to make way for the Santa Monica freeway. Moving to inner-city Los Angeles, Sharon experienced the culture shock of a sheltered small town girl in a big city, and everything, as she knew it, changed forever. 7 Shades of Sha-G chronicles Sharon's life from the age of eighteen and the events that shaped her into the woman she has become.

An autobiography with a difference, Seven Shades of J is Jean Riley’s story, written by Lesley Halliwell, and flips bi-polar on its head to relish the positives. This message is affirming, but not without its caution and a tinge of fear, but the book firmly focuses on the warmth and fondness for Jean’s recalled experiences when in bi-polar. Relevant to those who have bi-polar or those who experience relationships, fantasies, routines and rebellions - as do we all - the narrative makes it clear that Jean is not a victim of the condition, nor does anyone have to be. There is always another adventure to read, propelling the reader through a world that reads like fiction but is fact. Although Jean’s story, Lesley has taken a creative hand and broken the book into narratives, keeping the pace sharp and the reader engaged, and these explore off-spins of bi-polar, the ties that bind people and the enduring belief that humour knows no bounds. While deliciously funny, there are warnings in these tales about life, sex, unexpected joy, longing and disappointment, grounding the tales in reality whether each narrative is based in England, Wales, Indonesia or Norway. A silver lining to every dark cloud, Seven Shades of J is life-affirming and incredibly relatable, personal and practical. This is a book for those who want to explore mental health impacting on day-to-day life, for the reader who’s in the midst of change or maybe someone who is along for the ride on someone else’s bi-polar journey.

From the New York Times bestselling author of the Thursday Next series comes a “laugh-out-loud funny” (Los Angeles Times) and “brilliantly original” (Booklist, starred review) novel of a man attempting to navigate a color-coded world. “A rich brew of dystopic fantasy and deadpan goofiness.”—The Washington Post Welcome to Chromatacia, where the Colortocracy rules society through a social hierarchy based on one’s limited color perception. In this world, you are what you can see. Eddie Russet wants to move up. When he and his father relocate to the backwater village of East Carmine, his carefully cultivated plans to leverage his better-than-average red perception and marry into a powerful family are quickly upended. Eddie must content with lethal swans, sneaky Yellows, inviolable rules, an enforced marriage to the hideous Violet deMauve, and a risky friendship with an intriguing Grey named Jane who shows Eddie that the apparent peace of his world is as much an illusion as color itself. Will Eddie be able to tread the fine line between total conformity—accepting the path, partner, and career delineated by his hue—and his instinctive curiosity that is bound to get him into trouble?

This symbolic story recounts the lives of Charlotte and Jack, two among thousands of victims of religious intolerance, who flee from the intransigence that reigns in their natal planet, and arrive at a region harassed by ghosts. The warrior ghosts represent the mistakes and memories of a painful past. Guilt and losses, turned into obsession, take the form of inner ghosts that threaten the very essence of a human being and drive him into annihilation. Facing the inevitable devastation caused by the passing of time, not even a taxidermist, who stuffs and preserves a past event, can give life to what has already ceased to be. Only fantasy offers a refuge from the capricious destruction of death. Trying to remain, at whatever cost, in the unreal world of memories, the mind is blurred, distorted and becomes a trap.

"The rich reservoir of ancient knowledge contains the wisdom which can help solve our present day problems. The seven traits of Rama are ingrained in every human being as a son, brother, husband, warrior, a bit of ruler and a rishi; the blending where of leads to perfection. The author deplores the intellectual bankruptcy which is creating a vacuum in the personal, social and political lives resulting in mediocrity projecting itself as the savior of mankind and thereby befooling generations. Rama, the ‘Maryada Purushotama’, as an epitome of perfection provides an ideal and a reliable source of inspiration, through the life he lived, to resolve issues pertaining to inter-personal problems and make the society a place worth living. It is a bold endeavor to elevate the great epic, Ramayana, to a higher pedestal which takes it way beyond just depicting through Ramleelas, TV serials or keeping wrapped and worshipped as a matter of routine. The reader is sure to benefit from this precise and thought provoking treatise."
