This book is intended to provide graduate college students with original examples of well-written reports and research papers that received top grades in graduate school. This collection is 100% free of works from Internet paper "shops" that hawk term papers for a fee. You will not find any part of any paper in this book in any of the so-called "paper mills" on the Internet. Included in this volume are select position and problem-solving papers, article critiques, a book summary, an opinion editorial (Op-Ed), strategic plans, and research papers written by the author himself as a graduate student. Unlike similar books on the market, every single paper in this book is the original work of the author. Every research source is valid and every citation is real.

In these volumes, the most significant of the collected papers of the Chinese-American theoretical physicist Tsung-Dao Lee are printed. A complete list of his published papers, in order of publication, appears in the Bibliography of T.D. Lee. The papers have been arranged into ten categories, in most cases according to the subject matter. At the beginning of each of the first eight categories of papers, there is a commentary on the content and significance of all of the papers in the category. The two short final categories do not have any commentaries. The editor would like to thank Dr. Richard Friedberg for his assistance in the early stages of the editorial work on this project, as well as for writing commentaries on the papers of Categories III and IV. Professor Kun Huang is widely known for his collaboration with Max Born in writing the classic monograph, ?Dynamical Theory of Crystal Lattices?. During his years of active research, he has made many important contributions to solid state physics. The present collection of papers is selected at his own choice as representing his most influential works. Thus one finds included his pioneering work on the interaction of radiation field with polar lattices and the resulting coupled vibration modes (later known as ?polariton?); the systematic development of his theory of radiative and nonradiative multiphonon transition processes associated with lattice relaxation; his early prediction of diffuse X-ray scattering due to crystal defects; and his recent research works on low-dimensional semiconductor structures, etc.Professor Huang has found by his experience that scientists interested in these papers often want to know more particulars underlying the research work (background, motivation and rationale involved etc.). Thus he was led to write a commentary which is published alongside the papers.

Writing a Graduate Thesis or Dissertation

Writing a Graduate Thesis or Dissertation
Author: Lorrie Blair
Publisher: Springer
Total Pages: 162
Release: 2016-02-10
Genre: Education
ISBN: 9463004262

The Teaching Writing series publishes user-friendly writing guides penned by authors with publishing records in their subject matter. Blair’s practical book gives graduate students the tools they need to successfully plan, write, and defend their thesis or dissertation. Each chapter addresses a rite of passage common to most graduate programs: selecting a methodology, conducting a literature search, carrying out research, analyzing data, and preparing for a thesis defense. Combining years of supervisory experience with up-to-date research, Blair addresses issues important to graduate students that are often left out of these guides, including how to navigate the ethics review process and avoid problems related to academic integrity, such as plagiarism, how to select and prepare for a productive meeting with a supervisor, and how to establish an academic track record by presenting research at conferences and publishing in academic journals. Writing a Graduate Thesis or Dissertation offers much more than its title suggests. It is a thorough and succinct guide to succeeding in graduate school, appropriate for thesis and research methods courses, and a must-read for graduate students across the disciplines. “Like a series of productive meetings with a trusted advisor, each chapter of this text provides practical information and sound insight, thoughtfully organized and generously shared.” – Christine Marmé Thompson, Professor of Art Education, School of Visual Arts, Pennsylvania State University “This will become a ‘must-have’ volume for every graduate student’s book shelf, with advice for every step of the thesis journey.” – Anne Lavack, Professor of Marketing, School of Business and Economics, Thompson Rivers University “More than simply comprehensive, this work includes information and considerations that are rarely addressed in other guides, including information related to selecting supervisors and alternative forms of research methodologies and format styles.” – Adrienne Boulton-Funke, Assistant Professor, Art and Design, Missouri State University Lorrie Blair is a Professor of Art Education at Concordia University in Montreal, Quebec. With over 25 years post-secondary teaching experience, she has held positions at universities in the United States and Canada. She is active as a supervisor of MA and Ph.D. thesis students and was a recent recipient of the Faculty of Fine Arts Distinguished Teaching Award.
