This volume contains the proceedings of the Conference on Analysis, Complex Geometry and Mathematical Physics: In Honor of Duong H. Phong, which was held from May 7-11, 2013, at Columbia University, New York. The conference featured thirty speakers who spoke on a range of topics reflecting the breadth and depth of the research interests of Duong H. Phong on the occasion of his sixtieth birthday. A common thread, familiar from Phong's own work, was the focus on the interplay between the deep tools of analysis and the rich structures of geometry and physics. Papers included in this volume cover topics such as the complex Monge-Ampère equation, pluripotential theory, geometric partial differential equations, theories of integral operators, integrable systems and perturbative superstring theory.

This is a primer on a mathematically rigorous renormalisation group theory, presenting mathematical techniques fundamental to renormalisation group analysis such as Gaussian integration, perturbative renormalisation and the stable manifold theorem. It also provides an overview of fundamental models in statistical mechanics with critical behaviour, including the Ising and φ4 models and the self-avoiding walk. The book begins with critical behaviour and its basic discussion in statistical mechanics models, and subsequently explores perturbative and non-perturbative analysis in the renormalisation group. Lastly it discusses the relation of these topics to the self-avoiding walk and supersymmetry. Including exercises in each chapter to help readers deepen their understanding, it is a valuable resource for mathematicians and mathematical physicists wanting to learn renormalisation group theory.

Quantum many-body theory has greatly expanded its scope and depth over the past few years, treating more deeply long-standing issues like phase transitions and strongly-correlated systems, and simultaneously expanding into new areas such as cold atom physics and quantum information. This collection of contributions highlights recent advances in all these areas by leaders in their respective fields. Also included are some historic perspectives by L P Gor'kov and S T Belyaev, Feenberg Medal Recipients at this conference, and Nobel Laureate P W Anderson gives his unique outlook on the future of physics. The volume covers the key topics in many-body theory, tied together through advances in theoretical tools and computational techniques, and a unifying theme of fundamental approaches to quantum many-body physics.

The European Congress of Mathematics, held every four years, has established itself as a major international mathematical event. Following those in Paris, 1992, Budapest, 1996, and Barcelona, 2000, the Fourth European Congress of Mathematics took place in Stockholm, Sweden, June 27 to July 2, 2004, with 913 participants from 65 countries. Apart from seven plenary and thirty three invited lectures, there were six Science Lectures covering the most relevant aspects of mathematics in science and technology. Moreover, twelve projects of the EU Research Training Networks in Mathematics and Information Sciences, as well as Programmes from the European Science Foundation in Physical and Engineering Sciences, were presented. Ten EMS Prizes were awarded to young European mathematicians who have made a particular contribution to the progress of mathematics. Five of the prizewinners were independently chosen by the 4ECM Scientific Committee as plenary or invited speakers. The other five prizewinners gave their lectures in parallel sessions. Most of these contributions are now collected in this volume, providing a permanent record of so much that is best in mathematics today.

'I very much enjoyed reading this book … Each chapter comes with well thought-out exercises, solutions to which are given at the end of the chapter. Conformal Maps and Geometry presents key topics in geometric function theory and the theory of univalent functions, and also prepares the reader to progress to study the SLE. It succeeds admirably on both counts.'MathSciNetGeometric function theory is one of the most interesting parts of complex analysis, an area that has become increasingly relevant as a key feature in the theory of Schramm-Loewner evolution.Though Riemann mapping theorem is frequently explored, there are few texts that discuss general theory of univalent maps, conformal invariants, and Loewner evolution. This textbook provides an accessible foundation of the theory of conformal maps and their connections with geometry. It offers a unique view of the field, as it is one of the first to discuss general theory of univalent maps at a graduate level, while introducing more complex theories of conformal invariants and extremal lengths. Conformal Maps and Geometry is an ideal resource for graduate courses in Complex Analysis or as an analytic prerequisite to study the theory of Schramm-Loewner evolution.

This volume is a collection of lecture notes for six of the ten courses given in Buzios, Brazil by prominent probabilists at the 2010 Clay Mathematics Institute Summer School, ``Probability and Statistical Physics in Two and More Dimensions'' and at the XIV Brazilian School of Probability. In the past ten to fifteen years, various areas of probability theory related to statistical physics, disordered systems and combinatorics have undergone intensive development. A number of these developments deal with two-dimensional random structures at their critical points, and provide new tools and ways of coping with at least some of the limitations of Conformal Field Theory that had been so successfully developed in the theoretical physics community to understand phase transitions of two-dimensional systems. Included in this selection are detailed accounts of all three foundational courses presented at the Clay school--Schramm-Loewner Evolution and other Conformally Invariant Objects, Noise Sensitivity and Percolation, Scaling Limits of Random Trees and Planar Maps--together with contributions on Fractal and Multifractal properties of SLE and Conformal Invariance of Lattice Models. Finally, the volume concludes with extended articles based on the courses on Random Polymers and Self-Avoiding Walks given at the Brazilian School of Probability during the final week of the school. Together, these notes provide a panoramic, state-of-the-art view of probability theory areas related to statistical physics, disordered systems and combinatorics. Like the lectures themselves, they are oriented towards advanced students and postdocs, but experts should also find much of interest.
