Rising China and emerging India are becoming major maritime powers. As they build large navies to secure their growing interests, both nations are roiling the waters of the Indo-Pacific—the vast littoral stretching from Africa to Australasia. Invoking a tale from Hindu mythology— Samudra Manthan or "to churn the ocean"—C. Raja Mohan tells the story of a Sino-Indian rivalry spilling over from the Great Himalayas into the Indian and Pacific Oceans. He examines the prospects of mitigating the tensions and constructing a stable Indo-Pacific order. America, the dominant power in the area, is being drawn into the unfolding Sino-Indian competition. Despite the huge differences in the current naval capabilities of China, India, and the United States, Mohan argues that the three countries are locked in a triangular struggle destined to mold the future Indo-Pacific.

Discusses Hindu Advaita Ved?nta as a philosophy of social justice for the modern world. This expansive and accessible work provides an introduction to the Hindu tradition of Advaita Ved?nta and brings it into discussion with contemporary concerns. Advaita, the non-dual school of Indian philosophy and spirituality associated with ?a?kara, is often seen as other-worldly, regarding the world as an illusion. Anantanand Rambachan has played a central role in presenting a more authentic Advaita, one that reveals how Advaita is positive about the here and now. The first part of the book presents the hermeneutics and spirituality of Advaita, using textual sources, classical commentary, and modern scholarship. The books second section considers the implications of Advaita for ethical and social challenges: patriarchy, homophobia, ecological crisis, child abuse, and inequality. Rambachan establishes how Advaitas non-dual understanding of reality provides the ground for social activism and the values that advocate for justice, dignity, and the equality of human beings. Rambachan has written an original, creative, and provocative book that will assure that Hinduism has a greater voice in the general arena of interreligious dialogue. Paul F. Knitter, Union Theological Seminary This is an important contribution to the advancement of constructive work in Hindu theology, comparative theology, and the study of South Asian religious traditions. It has the potential to revolutionize how scholars view Hinduism generally, and Advaita Ved?nta in particular. Jeffery D. Long, Elizabethtown College

According to Hindu mythology, Brahma has a lifespan of 100 years. That may appear way short for a god of Brahma’s standing . (He is the creator of our solar system.) But Brahma and Hindu gods do not follow our traditional 24-hour clock. They represent time in cosmic units of yugas and kalpas. If you don’t understand any of these terms, that’s ok. A kalpa, for instance, is defined as a day of Brahma and translates to 4.32 billion human years. In fact Brahma has a lifespan of 311 trillion years! We explain these colossal timescales, as we introduce Brahma in this book. You will learn that Brahma initially was the supreme deity of Hinduism, but he could not hang on to his position for long. A judgmental lapse is said to have caused his downfall. With Brahma’s descent, Vishnu rose to power. Today, in the Hindu pantheon, Vishnu is a prominent god, and has a following of more than 700 million devotees, who are occasionally identified by the U-shared marks on their foreheads. With a focus on Vishnu and Brahma, we continue our journey beyond the Vedic era. We begin by examining a popular creation myth in which Brahma emerges from the navel of a sleeping Vishnu and starts crafting the world. Further on, we explore the churning of the milky ocean, a crucial event in Hindu mythology and one of the rare occasions when gods and demons collaborated (instead of fighting) to search for the nectar of immortality. Many precious things—and surprises—came out this quest, including Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth and consort of Vishnu. We also get to know a critical insight into our ancestry. According to Hinduism, we are all related and descendants of Manu, the father of human race. While this book focuses on Brahma and Vishnu, there will be occasional detours when we pause to look at art and architecture. In particular, we’ll look at Angkor Wat, the largest Hindu temple in the world. Guess what? The fact that Angkor Wat is located outside India has dented Hindu pride from time immemorial. We’ll also peek at ancient paintings from a mythological perspective, especially the unique genre of miniature paintings called ragamala that combines art, music, and poetry. A remarkable shift in worship took place during this period. Bhakti became a major form of worship and pervaded Hindu society forever. If you are unfamiliar with bhakti, then nothing exemplifies bhakti (devotion) more than the dancing-and-chanting Hare Krishnas.

Meru is referred to, talked about, heard of, compared to, and discussed about without exception in all books and discourses of religions in Bharat. Meru is regarded as the tallest and most pious mountain, having abodes of all Gods and Semi-Gods of all faiths. Unfortunately, nobody can confidently pinpoint the place of Meru in spite of indicative addresses available in scriptures. Generally, Hindus believe it to be beyond Himalayas; Buddhists say it is in Tibet; Jains say it exists, but it cannot be seen. This is because of unsatisfactory solutions to its conflicting descriptions. For example, the Sun never sets on Meru but does set at the base of it. In this book, satisfactory solutions have been explained with convincing reasons. Establishing Meru on the equator at "Bhugol Madhye," the author ventures to replace Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) with Meru Mean Time (MMT) for the reasons based on his findings. Also, the myth of fourteen Ratnas (Gems) coming out during ‘Samudra Manthan’– churning of the ocean has been explained in a lucid manner. Meru no longer remains a matter of miracle, myth or mystery but a history.

The primary objective of Ayurveda, one of the sciences of Vedic wisdom, was not to cure people but to ensure that people never fall sick at all and stay healthy, happy and in a state of ultimate bliss. This book will explain you the science behind basic principles of Ayurveda in the contemporary language like; The three fundamental forces on which human mind and body work; How different foods affect these three forces inside us in different parts of the body thereby manifesting in different behaviors as well as diseases proving the point that WE ARE WHAT WE EAT; How different combinations of these forces, makes each of us different and that's why ONE'S NECTAR COULD BE ANOTHER'S POISON; How absence of disease does not necessarily mean good health; How indiscreet dependence on modern medicine and consumption of so called superfoods is the cause of all the chaos and misery in today's world; How science and spirituality are closely connected and how eating and offering the right food is the foremost Karma; How every choice that we make has a consequence of either invoking the GOD or DEVIL inside us. The book will gradually move from Ayurveda to higher knowledge of occult sciences and explain that how Astrology (another discipline of Vedic Sciences) is an outcome of Ayurveda; How Astrology can explain that we are living in a simulated world which Vedas referred to as Maya- the illusion; and How can the principles of these Vedic sciences be gainfully utilized to transform this world from a state of chaos to a state of Ultimate bliss. "The Root Cause is not just a book but a guide towards complete holistic wellbeing in a very short format for everyone to gain knowledge and modulate oneself to be a better being in the scheme of this universe." - Dr. Madhuri Patil B.A.M.S. Leaders, who only live in the present and respond to its special pressures and demands, would fail to achieve quality of leadership and the change required in the future. In today's digital age of the millennial, transparency and social awareness have to be the cornerstones of any organization. Leaders and their HR need to align their current values accordingly. Some fundamentals like truth, humility, courage, energy, edge, equity, social justice will have to be brought back into the organization leadership DNA. All of us are aware about the spurt in leadership development activities in India over the recent years. There have been frantic efforts in Indian as well as foreign companies to develop leadership quickly across all levels in the organization. The reason of this recent surge lies in the current growth trajectory of Indian companies. Many Indian companies are growing at a rate which is mind-boggling. Companies which grew at 3 to 4 percent per annum for the first 30 years of their history, grew 10 fold or more since the advent of the new millennium. There are examples of several companies which have expanded phenomenally during the last decade, from Pan-India operations to manufacturing in 5 countries and doing business in 30 countries, increasing their manpower five times more than the number of people they had ever hired. This has put tremendous pressure on companies to develop leadership at all levels in the shortest possible time. So the natural question that comes up is: what kind of leaders do we need today in India? When we explore our own past, we expect our leaders be it in the form of god, king, or entrepreneur, to be 'Sarva Guna Sampanna', i.e. one who has all identified competencies and qualities required to be the 'right' leader. Today the imperative for senior leaders is to keep actualizing the talent in themselves and also in the band of leaders all over, whether leading from the front or middle or behind.
