In this book, the contributions address the following issues : how spaces and places have been culturally constructed and how these constructions have been altered through time ; how these spaces and places might be interpreted as the intentional and unintentional outcomes of, and representations of, social relations which are themselves necessarily temporal ; and how all components of our increasingly pluralist societies contribute to the cultural constructions of these localities.
