He saved her life. She became his muse. Transcending time, their love was absolute—and always out of reach. Is it too late, or do they have one more chance? Both Kira Wagner and Al Gabriel have the gift of music. While he becomes a world-renowned pianist, she grows up to be a gifted surgeon, saving lives. Years ago, in 1992, they met in a dream that felt too real to be just a fantasy. She was trapped under the rubble amidst the chaos of Hurricane Andrew, a little girl of six, and he rescued her from inevitable death. For the next eight years, they lived their lives remembering the dream that changed them both and knowing that it was much more than a simple vision. In 2000, at his concert, Al sees the face in the audience he’d never forget—the girl he once saved in a dream. So she wasn’t an illusion, after all. But neither of these two encounters was the first time they’d met. Centuries of several lifetimes before creates an unbreakable bond between them. Miracle or curse? Mystique or reality? Nearly a decade after that concert, fate reunites them once more. Remembering each of their previous lives, where they met and fell in love only to be torn apart over and over again, Kira knows this to be the final reunion that destiny has in store for them. She knows they are meant, but Al doesn’t remember. Or does he? Can two souls be united at last, completing their centuries-long journey?

Dreaming is a near-universal human experience, but there is no consensus on why we dream or what dreams should be taken to mean. In this book, Robert Ford Campany investigates what people in late classical and early medieval China thought of dreams. He maps a common dreamscape—an array of ideas about what dreams are and what responses they should provoke—that underlies texts of diverse persuasions and genres over several centuries. These writings include manuals of dream interpretation, scriptural instructions, essays, treatises, poems, recovered manuscripts, histories, and anecdotes of successful dream-based predictions. In these many sources, we find culturally distinctive answers to questions peoples the world over have asked for millennia: What happens when we dream? Do dreams foretell future events? If so, how might their imagistic code be unlocked to yield predictions? Could dreams enable direct communication between the living and the dead, or between humans and nonhuman animals? The Chinese Dreamscape, 300 BCE – 800 CE sheds light on how people in a distant age negotiated these mysteries and brings Chinese notions of dreaming into conversation with studies of dreams in other cultures, ancient and contemporary. Taking stock of how Chinese people wrestled with—and celebrated—the strangeness of dreams, Campany asks us to reflect on how we might reconsider our own notions of dreaming.

Dreams of Love pursues a wide-ranging interdisciplinary approach to understanding the concert pianist as a "Romantic" and seductive-even erotic-figure in the popular imagination, focusing on the role of technology in perpetuating this mythology over the past two centuries through the touch, sights, and sounds of the pianist's playing.

“[A] shining rendition of Swift and Gershwin’s star-crossed love.” —Therese Anne Fowler, New York Times bestselling author In the vein of the New York Times bestseller Loving Frank, this fascinating and compelling novel “will have you humming, toe-tapping, and singing along with every turn of the page” (Kate Quinn, New York Times bestselling author) as it explores the decade-long relationship between the celebrated composer George Gershwin and gifted musician Katharine “Kay” Swift. When Katharine “Kay” Swift—the restless but loyal society wife of wealthy banker James Warburg and a serious pianist who longs for recognition—attends a performance of Rhapsody in Blue by a brilliant, elusive young musical genius named George Gershwin, her world is turned upside down. Transfixed, she’s helpless to resist the magnetic pull of George’s talent, charm, and swagger. Their ten-year love affair, complicated by her conflicted loyalty to her husband and the twists and turns of her own musical career, ends only with George’s death from a brain tumor at the age of thirty-eight. Set in Jazz Age New York City, this stunning work of fiction explores the timeless bond between two brilliant, strong-willed artists. George Gershwin left behind not just a body of work unmatched in popular musical history, but a woman who loved him with all her heart, knowing all the while that he belonged not to her, but to the world.

This unique book, incorporating both theory and practice, provides an invaluable guide to the assessment of dreams in transactional analysis (TA). Grounded in the latest neuroscientific research, it offers both neophyte and experienced TA practitioners a pathway to incorporate a client’s dreams within individual and group therapy, exploring key issues including trauma, dissociation and nightmares, dreams of change and transformation, dreams of healing, and transference and countertransference in dreams. It will support therapists through the very first steps toward the analysis of more complex interpersonal dynamics and dream analysis in a group setting. Also discussing the direction of future research in the area, as well as an overview of an experiment on dream analysis during the recent pandemic, this will be key reading for anyone working in the field.
