In the long drawn political struggle for the attainment of swaraj several leaders representing various regions of our sub-continent played their historic role. Each volume contains the significant phase of the movement which generated the spirit of patriotism among the millons of people. This multivolume work illuminates the role played by the Freedom Fighters during the freedom struggle. In fact, besides majority community, all minorities have played important role in freedom struggle. Dalit leaders equally played important role in 1857. This multivolume work thus highlights the contributions of people from all sections of society in the freedom movement during Indian freedom. This is an attempt to draw upon their remembrance of the freedom struggle. Efforts have been made to include Freedom Fighters from various regions. The reminiscences of these unsung heroes reveal deep dedication and spirit with which they fought against the atrocities of the British risking their life and profession. The history of Freedom Movement would be incomplete without mentioning the contribution of women. In the Volume IV, we can study about women who participated in the freedom struggle and made rich contribution in various ways. Some of them were imprisoned, fined and suffered for freedom, and their contributions cannot be overlooked. The great contributions of these ladies and lords should be brought to the knowledge of the present generation, and this would be the best way to pay homage to them. This multivolume is a tribute to the Freedom Fighters in India s freedom movement.

Set in British India of the 1920s, Waiting for Swaraj follows the cadence and tempo of the lives of the intrepid revolutionaries of the Hindustan Republican Association and the Hindustan Republican Socialist Association who challenged the British Raj. It seeks to comprehend the revolutionaries' self-conception - what did it mean to be a revolutionary? How did a revolutionary live out the vision of revolution, what was their everyday like, did life in revolution transform an individual, what was their truth and how was it different from that of the others? The book locates the essence of being a revolutionary not just in the spectacular moments when the revolutionaries threw a bomb or carried out a political assassination, but in the everyday conversations, banter, anecdotes, and in the stray fragments of the life in underground. It demonstrates how 'waiting' was the crucible that forged a revolutionary.

The Life and Time of Deshbandhu Chittaranjan Das: One of the greatest son of India Chittaranjan Das was fondly known as ‘Deshbandhu’ which means ‘Friend of the Nation’. This name was given to him in 1922, long after he had proved himself a successful lawyer who defended Aurobindo Ghose in the celebrated Alipore Bomb Case (May 1908-May 1909). Apart from his profession of a lawyer, Chittaranjan Das was also a poet at heart. He published many books of his poems and essays. The most renowned is Sagar Sangeet, published in 1913. This was translated into English language by Aurobindo Ghose titled, The Song of the Seas. Above all this, Chittaranjan Das was a great patriot. He dedicated his entire life toward his biggest dream—to attain ‘Swaraj’ or Self-Governance for the country; although it is disheartening to know that he did not live long enough to experience it. He was successful to some extent in this work and in order to fulfil his dream, he established the Swaraj Party in December 1922, along with Narasimha Chintaman Kelkar and Motilal Nehru. Chittaranjan Das spent his entire life helping the poor and needy. A must read biography of a true martyr to infuse sense of dedication and devotion to the motherland. "The Bhagat Singh Reader brings into prominence his less widely known intellectual output. It presents in a single volume a collection of all his writings and thoughts: from his letters, telegrams and notices, to articles that chalk out his subversive and progressive ideas, and his mails from prison to the colonial administration and judiciary. His forty-three sketches of Indian freedom fighters throw light on the larger picture of the Independence struggle. This is a book that reveals Bhagat Singh the man and the thinker, the Marxist and the idealist." --
