Public meetings were authorized to be held to which were invited all persons who believed they had valuable ideas to suggest relative to the problems Of the Commission. The hearings were held in New York City in the State Of New York, and in the cities Of Newark and Jersey City in the State Of New Jersey. They were largely attended and aroused a great deal Of public interest. All suggestions submitted, either orally or in written briefs, were carefully considered by the Commission, the chief engineer and the board Of consulting engineers.
