Report of a Massachusetts legislature joint committee about a convention to amend the state constitution. On February 3, 1834, the joint committee was directed to consider reducing the size of the House of Representatives one more time; it issued an undated report. The committee recommended calling a constitutional convention to consider this issue and submitted a bill: An act relating to calling a convention of delegates of the people, for revising the constitution so far as it regards the House of Representatives, 1834. All jurisdictions would meet the second Monday in May to decide if the convention should be held. If the votes were in favor, the governor would call for a vote to select delegates; directions are provided for that process.
