H., September 10, 1856 The undersigned, a minority of the Board of Directors of the Boston and Maine Railroad, believing it to be the duty of Directors to present to you a full and accurate exposition of the affairs of the Company, in order that you may be truly informed of its condition, and how your Trustees have managed its busi ness, and thereby be better enabled to decide what measures should be taken to preserve your property, have not approved the Report made to you by order of a majority of the Directors, but desired you should be notified of our dissent to the same.
