This is an autobiographical account of my childhood journeys with my parents, 4 older sisters and 2 older brothers. My parents immigrated to America in the first quarter of the 1900s with their families; they met and were married in Arizona and 3 sisters and 1 brother were born there, and I and 1 brother and 1 sister were born in California. A large part of the book deals with the struggles of looking for work in various regions in these two states, and the resulting uprooting of family to go and temporarily live where work was found. There were many sacrifices made to keep family together. The other part of the book reveals the personal struggles I had because of moving to Maneadero, BC, Mexico in 1958 with my mother and attending the local Village School. Struggles? Yes, but soon overcome by the loving friendships developed with the Villagers, Shopkeepers, Teachers and Students. Fun was had, but there were a few God-sent events that became life-changing experiences for me.

Desloge Chronicles, A Tale of Two Continents is a monograph of an amazing family's journey supported by genealogical summaries which provide solid provenance. Situated in France and America, this is an authentic historical narrative built around one family's 600 letters dating from 200 years, providing live-action reality present at France & the French Revolution and the American Frontier. Based upon one of the largest bodies of vibrant correspondence written from the turn of the 1800s, we are able to peer into the scene of teeming wildlife and Native American Indians in the young America expanding from this family's French nobility on the young American frontier and then blooming into titanic industrialists and caring naturalists and philanthropists. Within this monograph, historical fact, studied historical research, and expanded narrative craft a compelling legend of the prominent Desloge family. More than simply cold chronology of facts, these are "action figures".

Despite it being a foreign land filled with uncertainty, thousands of Indians migrated to East Africa in the late 1800s to early 1900s in order to find jobs or to trade. One such migrant was Mohanlal Kala Savani. Manu Savani, the youngest son of Mohanlal Kala Savani, shares the history of a hard-working and successful Indian migrant in East Africa through a series of vividly written vignettes, enhanced by a gallery of personal photographs. JAMBO, SAMJI KALA! offers readers a glimpse of the sociopolitical history of East Africa from 1918 onwards through the story of an ambitious man who landed at the port of Mombasa with a rudimentary elementary school education and empty pockets. Mohanlal Kala Savani was an aspiring young immigrant who worked with focus, resolve and a dauntless spirit to succeed in the world of business. The growth of the Indian film business in East Africa and overseas is an integral chapter in Mohanlal Kala’s story. With struggle and determination, in 1922 he imported an Indian silent movie with a hand cranked projector. That was a building block to the distribution of Bollywood films internationally. This detailed biography shares the story of a visionary who turned obstacles into opportunities and became a movie mogul, textile and cotton mega trader, industrialist, real estate developer and philanthropist.

The life story of a physician who defines himself through his recollection of the people he's known. While recognizing the importance of self-fulfillment and hard work to achieve personal goals, he relates a moving tale of encouragement, teaching, and enlightenment provided by those who helped to guide him to where he is today. Through a series of essays and personality profiles he reminds us of the importance of role models and family values in living a rewarding and satisfying life, and his own coming to faith along the way. Now retired from a long career at a major medical center, the author has turned to writing as a second career, consistent with his plan to avoid "leaving without a trace", and becoming a better person and role model as his time shortens. The author hopes this slender volume will serve to inspire those in the afternoon years of their lives, those who recognize the debt they owe to others, and those who wrestle with the desire to leave a gift of recognition and appreciation. The author's spirituality lies at the heart of this effort. The road to faith is a life-long journey, full of doubt at times, but rewarding, satisfying, fulfilling and leaving room for hope.
