Welcome to Refreshing Wind. This book has already experienced a Spirit miracle. In Albuquerque, New Mexico, in October 2013, a group of writers and the CLASSeminar faculty gathered to compose a devotion book celebrating a renewed Spirit common to all of them. In less than a week, they each wrote a devotional, prayed over it, and submitted it for publication. In this special book, a joint effort combined to meld these writers' trust in their Lord with their past experiences, talents, and skills into a devotional for celebrating God's Presence in your life. Inside these pages you will find a daily story about ordinary men and women who were discouraged-and standing in the mire at the lowest point of their lives-God provided a refreshing wind to assure them of His grace and love. The sign may have come in a bright heap of autumn leaves, a pile of grey rocks, a noisy telephone call, or the eerie silence hovering over smoldering ashes of a family home. In each case, God touched these writers and raised the ordinary to the extraordinary, providing the spark the writers needed for renewed life. Our prayer is that you find that same spark in your life, uplifted by a refreshing wind to begin a fresh start.

Nothing changes a person's heart, attitudes, and life more dramatically and profoundly than offering one's heart to God in praise and worship. Inspired by the greatest contemporary and classic songs of worship, My Heart for His Glory helps draw God's people into His presence with devotions for every day of the year. The stories, promises, and insights from songs like "Change My Heart, Oh God," "My God Reigns," "Shout to the Lord," and "Holy Ground" provide a perfect starting point to help us offer our hearts for His glory.

The presence of the Divine is everywhere. That is both a comfort and a challenge. We are consoled to know that God is with us, but being human we need a sign, something to touch, see, hear, taste, smell. We need something of the ordinary to name the non-touchable, invisible, unable-to-be-heard, tasteless, odorless God's presence with us. So, we employ metaphors, figures of speech which literally denote one kind of object in place of another, to suggest a likeness or analogy. In this book, the metaphors used for God come out of the Bible; they are the four elements of nature for the Greeks: wind, water, earth, and fire. Wind is a metaphor for God's Spirit. Water refers to God as the source of life. Earth, from which we are created, bears God's fingerprints and footprints. And fire reminds us of the God who purifies and draws all creation to himself. This nature spirituality book consists of four chapters--wind, water, earth, fire--each of which contains twenty, four-part exercises of prayer: a few verses from Scripture, a reflection, a journal exercise, and a concluding prayer.

Growing up the son of agnostics, John Koessler saw a Catholic church on one end of the street and a Baptist on the other. In the no-man’s land between the two, this curious outside wondered about the God they worshipped—and began a lifelong search to comprehend the grace and mystery of God. A Stranger in the House of God addresses fundamental questions and struggles faced by spiritual seekers and mature believers. Like a contemporary Pilgrim’s Progress, it traces the author’s journey and explores his experiences with both charismatic and evangelical Christianity. It also describes his transformation from religious outsider to ordained pastor. John Koessler provides a poignant and often humorous window into the interior of the soul as he describes his journey from doubt and struggle with the church to personal faith

The author of Desiring God reveals the biblical evidence to help us see and savor what the pleasures of God show us about Him. Includes a study guide for individual and small-group use. Isn’t it true—we really don’t know someone until we understand what makes that person happy? And so it is with God! What does bring delight to the happiest Being in the universe? John Piper writes, that it’s only when we know what makes God glad that we’ll know the greatness of His glory. Therefore, we must comprehend “the pleasures of God.” Unlike so much of what is written today, this is not a book about us. It is about the One we were made for—God Himself. In this theological masterpiece—chosen by World Magazine as one of the 20th Century’s top 100 books, John Piper reveals the biblical evidence to help us see and savor what the pleasures of God show us about Him. Then we will be able to drink deeply—and satisfyingly—from the only well that offers living water. What followers of Jesus need now, more than anything else, is to know and love—behold and embrace—the great, glorious, sovereign, happy God of the Bible. “This is a unique and precious book that everybody should read more than once.” —J.I. PACKER, Regent College, Vancouver, British Columbia

These worship resources are inclusive in reference to God and humanity, and reflect concern for justice and peace in the world. They are also theologically sound, scripturally based, and well written. They are contemporary yet dignified and graceful in tone, and full of rich imagery for use in the context of worship. They were compiled with sensitivity to current and traditional theological and liturgical issues, as well as literary quality. While resources for baptism, communion, weddings and other special occasions are provided, most of the resources are for Sunday worship. Much of the material provides new models and approaches to worship, to stimulate thought and creativity.
