Excerpt from Harvard College, Record of the Class of 1893; June, 1893, to June, 1899: Secretary's Report No. II The second Report is intended to be a record of the members of the Class since leaving college. Most of the material has been furnished by the men themselves, though in many cases I have noted items of news that have come to my attention from outside sources. Except in the list in the first part of the Report, I have not distinguished between permanent and temporary members of the Class and special students, as there is now no apparent reason for such classification. In the text of the Report I have omitted the names of all temporary members and special students who have not replied to notices, and about whom I have no news. I have, however, retained the names of all who received degrees. I think I may speak for my successor by saying that he will be glad to restore to the list any of these dropped men who may express a wish to that effect. With this Report I tender my resignation as secretary. I feel that I have been and am likely to be altogether too busy to give the time and attention necessary to do the work in a satisfactory manner. Inasmuch as there are several members of the Class who are desirous of undertaking the work of secre tary and have the time to devote to it, I feel that my resigna tion is for the best interest of the Class.
