This report summarizes a Congressionally auhorized reconnaissance study for urban flood water damage reduction in the Illinois and Michigan Canal basin. This report also summarizes the studies analyzing the stability and level of flood protection provided by the McCook levees located along the Des Plaines River and the potential for failure or orvertopping of the floodwalls along the Illinois Waterway above the Brandon Road and Lockport locks in the Lower Des Plaines watershed.
