What might have seemed like an unlikely pairing, became a very symbiotic relationship for Roelof Weertman: engineering principles applied to the structure of the stringed instrument. Along with mastery of the creation of stringed instruments, there grew an intense desire to understand the superior sound prominent luthiers before him had achieved. Using his technical knowledge and outstanding woodworking skills, he set upon the goal to build violins, violas and cellos that would be a match for the renowned sound quality of the revered old masters like Stradavarius, Guarneri, Amati and others. Violin Building My Way describes the techniques Roelof developed to reach his goal.
