Ikechukwu Morah is a versatile author of over twenty novels. He indulges in reading, writing and photography and lives in Baltimore. A practicing Pharmacist, he has that basic philosophy in life that one just has to try his best and leave the rest to God. For that reason one should never take life too seriously no matter the odds. He thinks that one should never complain of his lot if one could remember the saying: “I used to complain that I had no shoes till a met a man with no legs.”

There are a few truths that are woven throughout this book. In a way, it is also a story of my own life. First, realize that life is difficult and very complicated; however, all you need to know about how to succeed is stated with assurance in Psalm 1. Read it. Meditate on it daily. Heed it. You will succeed. There may be times in the first, second, or third quarters of life that you may feel like a failure; but if you continue reading, heeding, and meditating on the principles of Psalm 1, you will get back up on your feet and go on with success. At the end of the game of life, you will be successful, ultimately in eternity. And if you read daily, heed, and meditate on the book of Proverbs, you will gain wisdom. You will be wise, knowing that all wisdom comes from God and only from God. The good news from these truths, absolute truths, is that it will be well for you. It will be for your own good. There is no other way for you to be truly wise and succeed in life. Therefore, reading the Bible daily, to keep these truths in your mind, is the way to be wise and successful!

Just as Africa and the West have traditionally fit into binaries of Darkness/Enlightenment, Savage/Modern, Ugly/Beautiful, and Ritual/Art, among others, much of Western cultural production rests upon the archetypal binary of Trickster/Epic, with trickster aesthetics and commensurate cultural forms characterizing Africa. Challenging this binary and the exceptionalism that underlies anti-hegemonic efforts even today, this book begins with the scholarly foundations that mapped out African trickster continuities in the United States and excavated the aesthetics of traditional African epic performances. Rutledge locates trickster-like capacities within the epic hero archetype (the "epic trickster" paradigm) and constructs an Homeric Diaspora, which is to say that the modern Homeric performance foundation lies at an absolute time and distance away from the ancient storytelling performance needed to understand the cautionary aesthetic inseparable from epic potential. As traditional epic performances demonstrate, unchecked epic trickster dynamism anticipates not only brutal imperialism and creative diversity, but the greatest threat to everyone, an eco-apocalypse. Relying upon the preeminent scholarship on African-American trickster-heroes, traditional African heroic performances, and cultural studies approaches to Greco-Roman epics, Rutledge traces the epic trickster aesthetic through three seminal African-American novels keenly attuned to the American Homeric Diaspora: Charles Chesnutt’s The Marrow of Tradition, Richard Wright’s Native Son, and Toni Morrison’s Beloved.

The book of Proverbs is a cornucopia of practical wisdom on a variety of topics. The insights and truths covered in this book of ancient Hebrew Wisdom literature run the gamut including the nature of true wisdom and understanding, vices and virtues, relationships and roles, priorities, planning for the future, how to communicate, and how to manage one's resources. In recent decades, the book of Proverbs has increasingly become the focus of attention for Christians who wish to live lives more in tune with God's principles. In particular, Christian thinkers have begun to correlate biblical principles with the study of effective leadership. Yost examines the subject of godly leadership by using the book of Proverbs as his springboard. This is a scholarly, yet deeply devotional, study of the leader's priorities, the leader's plans, and the leader's speech. Once you have read this book, you will never look at the book of Proverbs or the subject of leadership the same way again.
