There are two possible games to play in life—the scarcity game, that of empty, fearful living; or the prosperity game, that of possibility and boundless living—and this practical how-to book argues that readers can choose between the two. Most people ignore the opportunities inherent in every moment for the sake of an end goal or grand prize, an approach that denies them the growth, fun, and unlimited potential of the prosperity game. Arguing that nobody is destined to be poor and to struggle, no matter how difficult his or her past, this guide proposes that knowing that change is possible is the single tool needed to begin to alter the life-game being played. Unique in bridging the fields of personal development and practical spirituality through both stories and exercises, this book ultimately helps the reader envision a possible world where there is more than enough, personally and globally, for everyone to meet their wants and needs.

Most people consider life a battle, but it is not a battle, it is a game. It is a game, however, which cannot be played successfully without the knowledge of spiritual law, and the Old and the New Testaments give the rules of the game with wonderful clearness. Jesus the Christ taught that it was a great game of Giving and Receiving. If we give hate, we will receive hate; if we give love, we will receive love; if we give criticism, we will receive criticism; if we lie we will be lied to; if we cheat we will be cheated. We are taught also, that the imaging faculty plays a leading part in the game of life. Keep thy heart (or imagination) with all diligence, for out of it are the issues of life." (Prov. 4:23.)

Dare Wilson's sporting career dates back to 1920s when, as a small boy, he started fishing in Northumberland on River Derwent. Since then as he has pursued successful careers in the Army and Conservation, he has fished and shot all over the world; turkey hunting and snake catching in Georgia, pheasants in Korea, sand grouse and quail in Palestine, geese in Ireland, ducks in Manitoba.??A natural story teller, General Wilson's sporting career almost ended while wildfowling in The Wash in early 1939 – he, his Cambridge University friends and their dogs were saved by a miracle. An uninterrupted line of black Labradors have shared Dare's experiences. The current one, is the 12th. ??For good measure the General tells of his thrilling winter sports (skiing and cresta) and parachuting experiences. His team of SAS free-fallers broke the World Record in 1962 – tragically one member died.??Dare may have lived life on the edge but the risks he has taken have always been carefully calculated. Had they not been he would not still be an active fisherman and shot in his 90's. This is a treasure trove of sporting stories.

"Fragile families"—unmarried parents who struggle emotionally and financially—are one of the primary targets of the Healthy Marriage Initiative, a federal policy that has funded marriage education programs in nearly every state. These programs, which encourage marriage by teaching relationship skills, are predicated on the hope that married couples can provide a more emotionally and financially stable home for their children. Healthy marriage policy promotes a pro-marriage culture in which two-parent married families are considered the healthiest. It also assumes that marriage can be a socioeconomic survival mechanism for low-income families, and an engine of upward mobility. Through interviews with couples and her own observations and participation in marriage education courses, Jennifer M. Randles challenges these assumptions and critically examines the effects of such classes on participants. She takes the reader inside healthy marriage classrooms to reveal how their curricula are reflections of broader issues of culture, gender, governance, and social inequality. In analyzing the implementation of healthy marriage policy, Randles questions whether it should target individual behavior or the social and economic context of that behavior. The most valuable approach, she concludes, will not be grounded in notions of middle-class marriage culture. Instead, it will reflect the fundamental premise that love and commitment thrive most within the context of social and economic opportunity.
