Excerpt from Minutes of the 19th Annual Session of the Selma Baptist Association: Held With Mt; Gilead Baptist Church, Lowndes Co;, August 1901 For nearly three-quarters of a century the Baptists of Alabama have manifested interest in the education of our young people. As a result of this interest we have two well established schools; the Howard for boys and young men at East Lake, and the Judson, for young ladies at Marion. Only a few weeks go the State Board of Missions was able to close the trade fer a Splendid school property at Scottsboro, Ala., for a small amount. This gives us three schools, two colleges and one high school, which are under the control of our State Convention, Your committee rejoices in the prosperity of the Howard and Judson, the two schools which are so near the hearts of Alabama Baptists. Reports come to us of the large atten dance of these schools during the past session. Financially, they are in better condition than they have been for years. Both are in good substantial endowment, and we trust that it will be realized in the near future. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
