This conference is the latest in a three-decade working relationship between the Census Bureau and the transportation community to improve the quality and quantity of transportation related data collected in the U.S. Census of Population and Housing. A similar conference held in 1973 in Albuquerque resulted in many improvements to the 1980 census. It is hoped that the Orlando conference and this subsequent report will have a significant effect on the conduct and results of the 1990 census. The conference proceedings include many background papers prepared for and presented at the meeting as well as the conference workshop summaries, the recommendations of each workshop, and an overall synthesis of all the conference findings and recommendations.
