The prevalence of childhood obesity is so high in the United States that it may reduce the life expectancy of today's generation of children. While parents and other adult caregivers play a fundamental role in teaching children about healthy behaviors, even the most positive efforts can be undermined by local environments that are poorly suited to supporting healthy behaviors. For example, many communities lack ready sources of healthy food choices, such as supermarkets and grocery stores. Or they may not provide safe places for children to walk or play. In such communities, even the most motivated child or adolescent may find it difficult to act in healthy ways. Local governments-with jurisdiction over many aspects of land use, food marketing, community planning, transportation, health and nutrition programs, and other community issues-are ideally positioned to promote behaviors that will help children and adolescents reach and maintain healthy weights. Local Government Actions to Prevent Childhood Obesity presents a number of recommendations that touch on the vital role of government actions on all levels-federal, state, and local-in childhood obesity prevention. The book offers healthy eating and physical activity strategies for local governments to consider, making it an excellent resource for mayors, managers, commissioners, council members, county board members, and administrators.

The heart is invested with a complex, intertwining network of blood and lymphatic vessels which, respectively, provide the cardiac tissue with oxygen and nutrients and eliminate excess fluid from the interstitium. The coronary blood vessels have been the focus of much investigation in the past few decades. On the other hand, the literature regarding the cardiac lymphatic vessels remains sparse, despite their important role in maintaining normal heart function. With this in mind, a better understanding of the cardiac lymphatic network and its ability to regulate fluid homeostasis within the heart could give us insight into developing therapies for the alleviation of several cardiac pathological conditions.

Shortly after Langenbuch performed the first cholecystectomy in 1877 in Berlin, the first bile duct injury associated to cholecystectomy occurred and was published. For decades frequency maintained low, until the presentation of laparoscopic cholecystectomy, when the number of cases complicated with bile duct injury doubled. Nowadays, it is estimated that this injury occurs in up to every three to six cholecystectomies. In 2019, despite the great efforts, educational programs, simulators and learning curves, injuries continue to happen. In some way, it represents a great emotional burden both for the surgeon and the patient. This text compiles a wide revision of this problem. In the United States, it represents a health issue due to the costs it carries. In Mexico, where the information published by the authors is gathered, there are no official statistics of the problem. The different chapters of the book deeply explore anatomical and physiological aspects of the bile duct, the etiology of the lesions and the mechanisms or tools to approach the patient, as the multidisciplinary outcomes of the injury. This book is addressed to all health professionals, especially surgeons, who are involved in these complex cases directly or not. We intend to approach, in a wide and profound manner, all the situations related to the management of these lesions.

The 3rd edition of Jenkins' "Anatomy and Physiology: From Science to Life" offers many new and enhanced features. Each chapter of STL is designed and developed into manageable modules of content that place a conceptual order on the facts and terminology. This design is seamlessly mirrored in WileyPLUS for Anatomy and Physiology. Furthermore, relevant case stories draw readers in, keep them connected to the content and provide the platform for developing the critical thinking skills so necessary for their professions. Thoroughly revised and updated for this edition, the link between the case and the relevant anatomy and physiology in each chapter is even more closely connected. Actively engaging readers with the learning process is made simple with the integration of multiple and varied learning resources, including such dynamic assets as animations, iPod downloads, clinical connections, drill and practice labeling activities from cadavers to models to illustrations, virtual dissection experience with Real Anatomy, and creative interactive exercises and concept maps for reviewing material. These resources provide a wide range of learning style preferences and reinforce the focused design of the integrated text and media.

"CAR" is a symposium and exhibition covering the impact of computer and communication systems applied to radiology, image-guided therapy and other medical disciplines, which use digital imaging for diagnosis and therapy planning. "CAR '95" also provides tutorials, but more emphasis is given to a broad variety of specific problems related to medical/technical issues in digital imaging. This is achieved through in-depth presentations of results of current medical imaging projects on a worldwide basis.
