About the AuthorJanel D. Jordan is married to Maurice Jordan; mother to two sons, Courtney and Maurice Jr., grandmother to Hailey Grace, daughter to Mildred L. Johnson and sister to Pam, Kim, and David. Above all things, I am a child of the King and an ordained minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. To God be the glory. I currently attend Calvary Broken Vessels Ministry in St. Louis, MO. My daily prayer and desire in found in Psalm 119:133 which says, "Order my steps in thy word: and let not any iniquity have dominion over me." The LORD has ordered my steps to be of encouragement to those in need. It started with a devotional e-mail sent out on June 6, 2007. Something I thought was a one-time occurrence. Three years later the Praise The LORD Everybody! E-mail ministry is going strong and has now evolved into the "Praise The LORD Everybody! (366 Exhortations To Start Your Day In The Presence Of The LORD)" inspirational, devotional book. To God be the glory. I have worked in the St. Louis Public School District for 20 years mainly in the Preschool capacity. I work very diligently with a charity the LORD has placed in my husband, Maurice's, heart called the "Secret Santa Club," which grants up to 3 Christmas wishes to Pre-k -1st grade under privileged students in the SLPS school district. To date we have been a blessing to our families by granting over 1400 students their Christmas wishes. To God be the glory. One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to enquire in his temple, Psalm 27:4. Amen!

Evan passed away in an accident while stationed in Gulf Port, MS. I had a very hard time coming to terms with what happened. I found these writings on his computer and decided to put them together in a book. This is a book of poetry showing the struggles and transformation written by our son, Evan. He was a very gifted artist and we have included some of his drawings. My wish is for all to read this, to know him and our Savior. Evan was a very caring young man. He loved to help people. I pray this book continues helping all those who read it. In loving memory of our son, Evan Michael Payne 1/20/88-9/3/07.

Growing in the Light is a book that is composed of stories of faith, endurance, and obedience, learning to never give up, no matter the longevity of the circumstance. Each short story will captivate you into reflecting how the Lord will come through difficult events, leaving you with a surety that his love is never failing. Each story is based on different life experiences--giving us perspectives on faith, endurance, and restoration. Life does not always bow to our desires. If you are a prodigal son or daughter, remember that your father in heaven is waiting with open arms for your return. Even when we find ourselves in the direst circumstances and all hope and assurance have faded, God is there to comfort, heal and, deliver our hearts into life again. Each time we heed to the call of obedience, we come closer to the abundance of our faith walk in him. Remember, never give up!

Mara Brandine is a young woman who moves between the worlds of Academia and Pentecostalia almost breathlessly, until a professor charges her with exploring her "shadow subordinate", a side of herself that is darker than the politeness that pervades her life. This is a charge that goes against Mara's religious upbringing, but plays into her anger at the church's rampant hypocrisy. Armed with nothing but a sharp wit, imagination and a few close friends, Mara must navigate the now-murky waters of self-realization without embodying the meaning of her name. This task becomes all the more difficult when one especially greasy 'lady' takes interest in one of the church bachelors.
