In 1831, Recovery, then the property of Mr Turner, ran six races, two of which he won - The Croxteth Stakes, at Liverpool, beating Perseverance, Rex, Brambilla, Specula tion, Lady Constance, Her Highness, The Captain, and But terfly; and, at the same Meeting, the Stand Cup of 100 sovs., added to a Sweepstakes of 10 sovs. Each, thirty-three subscribers, two miles and a distance, Birmingham being his only competitor. - Betting: 4 to 1. On Birmingham. At Knutsford, for a Piece of Plate, value 100 sovs.. Three miles, Recovery having fallen lame in the race, ran second to Birmingham, beating The Cardinal and Moss Rose.
