This book is an invaluable resource of hedging case studies and examples, explaining with clarity and coherence how various instruments - such as futures and options - are used in different market scenarios to contain, control and eliminate price risk exposure. Its core objective is to elucidate hedging transactions and provide a systematic, comprehensive view on hedge performance. When it comes to hedge strategies specifically, great effort has been employed to create new instruments and concepts that will prove to be superior to classic methods and interpretations. The concept of hedge patterns - introduced here - proves it is possible to tabulate a hedging strategy and interpret its use with diagrams, so each example is shown visually with the result of radical clarity. A compelling visual pattern is also attached to each case study to give you the ability to compare different solutions and apply a best-fit hedging strategy in real-world situations. A diverse range of hedging transactions showing the ultimate payoff profiles and performance metrics are included. These have been designed to achieve the ultimate goal - to convey the necessary skills to allow business and risk management teams to develop proper hedging mechanisms and apply them in practice.

This book aims to strengthen programming skills and foster creative thinking by presenting and solving 90 challenging problems. The book is intended for individuals with elementary, intermediate, and advanced Python programming skills who aspire to take their abilities to the next level. Additionally, the book is valuable for individuals interested in enhancing their creative thinking and logical reasoning skills. It is a self-instructional book meant to provide readers with the ability to solve challenging problems independently. The presented challenges are lucidly and succinctly expressed, facilitating readers to follow along and comprehend the problem-solving process. The challenges cover various fields, making it suitable for a wide range of individuals. The book is divided into eight chapters, beginning with an introduction in chapter one. The second chapter presents essential Python basics for programming challenging problems, while the subsequent chapters focus on specific types of challenges. These include math-based challenges in chapter three, number-based challenges in chapter four, string-based challenges in chapter five, game-based challenges in chapter six, count-based challenges in chapter seven, and miscellaneous challenges in chapter eight. Each chapter comprises a set of challenges with examples, hints, algorithms, and Python code solutions. The target audience of the book includes computer science and engineering students, teachers, software developers, and participants in programming competitions.

Classical dynamics is traditionally treated as an early stage in the development of physics, a stage that has long been superseded by more ambitious theories. Here, in this book, classical dynamics is treated as a subject on its own as well as a research frontier. Incorporating insights gained over the past several decades, the essential principles of classical dynamics are presented, while demonstrating that a number of key results originally considered only in the context of quantum theory and particle physics, have their foundations in classical dynamics.Graduate students in physics and practicing physicists will welcome the present approach to classical dynamics that encompasses systems of particles, free and interacting fields, and coupled systems. Lie groups and Lie algebras are incorporated at a basic level and are used in describing space-time symmetry groups. There is an extensive discussion on constrained systems, Dirac brackets and their geometrical interpretation. The Lie-algebraic description of dynamical systems is discussed in detail, and Poisson brackets are developed as a realization of Lie brackets. Other topics include treatments of classical spin, elementary relativistic systems in the classical context, irreducible realizations of the Galileo and Poincaré groups, and hydrodynamics as a Galilean field theory. Students will also find that this approach that deals with problems of manifest covariance, the no-interaction theorem in Hamiltonian mechanics and the structure of action-at-a-distance theories provides all the essential preparatory groundwork for a passage to quantum field theory. This reprinting of the original text published in 1974 is a testimony to the vitality of the contents that has remained relevant over nearly half a century.
