Excerpt from June I am here, answers a charming voice, and the owner of it trips out from behind a rose-bush, holding a cluster of half-blown crimson blossoms of which she has despoiled it. June, the month, links spring to summer; in June the birds sing their sweetest, the senses are keenest; June bears the hope and promise of the year. June has hot fits and cold fits, summer skies and angry tears, balmy airs and chilling winds. June is young and fresh, bright and hope ful, gay and careless in the faith of good days to come; June, when fair, is fairest of the fair; and June the month is a fit prototype of June the smiling maiden who answers so promptly to the cry. Excerpt from The New June To conciliate my critics, pray assure them at this point that I am aware of the distinction between artistic and scientific truth: I know the difference, in solidity and permanence, between the authentic material bones and the hypothetical superstructure - not much firmer at times than the stuff that dreams are made of. But I still claim to range myself with the historian, for he too uses 70577019, and he too has his answer for those who demand from him facts and nothing but facts. You show us modern-looking limbs, they say, limbs nu picturesquely like our own; whereas in the back garden we have found quaint old bones, which are quite different. These haunters of museums! Will you be able to convince them that the monster never lived whose body was in shape, size, or colour at all identical with his skeleton? Can you persuade them that there was more than the fortuitous grin of the skull in Hamlet's thought when he sighed, I knew him, Horatio, a fellow of infinite jest? Excerpt from The Twenty-Fourth of June: Midsummer's Day Something's happened to the lock - they've sent for a man to fix it. Come round to the back with me I'll show you. So this was why Richard Kendrick came to be con ducted by way of the tall-pillared rear porch into the house through the rear door of the wide central hall. There was no light at this end of the hall, and the old-fashioned, high-backed settee which stood there was in shadow. With a glance at the caller's muddy condition the young son of the house decided it the part of prudence to assign him this waiting-place, while he himself should go in search of his uncle. The lad had seen the big motor-car at the gate; quite naturally he took its driver for a chauffeur. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. In the last decade, signi?cant changes have occurred in the ?eld of vehicle motion planning, and for UAVs in particular. UAV motion planning is especially dif?cult due to several complexities not considered by earlier planning strategies: the - creased importance of differential constraints, atmospheric turbulence which makes it impossible to follow a pre-computed plan precisely, uncertainty in the vehicle state, and limited knowledge about the environment due to limited sensor capabilities. These differences have motivated the increased use of feedback and other control engineering techniques for motion planning. The lack of exact algorithms for these problems and dif?culty inherent in characterizing approximation algorithms makes it impractical to determine algorithm time complexity, completeness, and even soundness. This gap has not yet been addressed by statistical characterization of experimental performance of algorithms and benchmarking. Because of this overall lack of knowledge, it is dif?cult to design a guidance system, let alone choose the algorithm. Throughout this paper we keep in mind some of the general characteristics and requirements pertaining to UAVs. A UAV is typically modeled as having velocity and acceleration constraints (and potentially the higher-order differential constraints associated with the equations of motion), and the objective is to guide the vehicle towards a goal through an obstacle ?eld. A UAV guidance problem is typically characterized by a three-dimensional problem space, limited information about the environment, on-board sensors with limited range, speed and acceleration constraints, and uncertainty in vehicle state and sensor data.

Excerpt from The Path of Dreams Sweet-scented winds move inward from the shore, Blythe is the air of June with silken gleams, My roving fancy treads at will once more, The golden path of dreams. Along the sloping uplands yellow wheat Is bending to the honied breath of June, While all the lowlands slumber at my feet This glorious afternoon. To balmy gusts from blue-girt breezy hills The clover blossoms nod with graceful art, And all the mystery of living thrills The ever pulsing heart. The Pathless Path

The Pathless Path

Genre: Business & Economics
ISBN:

Not all who wander are lost… Paul thought he was on his way. From a small-town Connecticut kid to the most prestigious consulting firm in the world, he had everything he thought he wanted. Yet he decided to walk away and embark on the "real work" of his life - finding the work that matters and daring to create a life to support that. This Pathless Path is about finding yourself in the wrong life, and the real work of figuring out how to live. Through painstaking experiments, living in different countries, and contemplating the deepest questions about life, Paul pieces together a set of ideas and principles that guide him from unfulfilled and burned out to a life he is excited to keep living. The Pathless Path is not a how-to book filled with “hacks”; instead, it is a vulnerable account of Paul’s journey from leaving the socially accepted “default path” towards another, one focused on doing work that matters, finding the others, and defining your own success. This book is an ideal companion for people considering leaving their jobs, embarking on a new path, dealing with the uncertainty of an unconventional path, or looking to improve their relationship with work in a fast-changing world. Reader feedback: “It’s a rare book in that it is tangentially about careers and being more focused and productive, but unlike almost every other book I have read about these topics, I finished this one and felt better about myself and my career.” “The themes are timeless. The content is expertly written. The advice is refreshingly non-prescriptive.” “If you have questioned your own path, or a nagging lack of intention in your choices you need this book. If you have felt a gradual loss of agency in your direction you need this book. You are in the grip of an invisible script that was not written for you.” “The writing is fantastic - Paul's writing is approachably poetic; a quick read that weaves together his own experience moving from a 'default path' overachiever to a 'pathless path' seeker of passion and curiosity, deep research into the history of work and collections of perspectives from years of podcasting, friendship, conferences, and meetings with other 'alternative path' life-livers."

Beginning in the late '60s, hundreds of thousands of Westerners descended upon India, disciples of a cultural revolution that proclaimed that the magic and mystery missing from their lives was to be found in the East. An Indian writer who has also lived in England and the United States, Gita Mehta was ideally placed to observe the spectacle of European and American "pilgrims" interacting with their hosts. When she finally recorded her razor sharp observations in Karma Cola, the book became an instant classic for describing, in merciless detail, what happens when the traditions of an ancient and longlived society are turned into commodities and sold to those who don't understand them. In the dazzling prose that has become her trademark, Mehta skewers the entire Spectrum of seekers: The Beatles, homeless students, Hollywood rich kids in detox, British guilt-trippers, and more. In doing so, she also reveals the devastating byproducts that the Westerners brought to the villages of rural lndia -- high anxiety and drug addiction among them. Brilliantly irreverent, Karma Cola displays Gita Mehta's gift for weaving old and new, common and bizarre, history and current events into a seamless and colorful narrative that is at once witty, shocking, and poignant.
