Excerpt from Ordinances Enacted by the Legislative Council of the Cape of Good Hope, Vol. 4: 1845-1847 Pfe'mbl'3' whereas under and by virtue of the Ordinance No. 34 of 1831, intituled an Ordinance for altering and amend ing the law relative to the qualification of persons liable to serve on grand and petty juries, and to the mode of making out and returning lists of the same, certain dutieshave been imposed upon the collector of taxes in Cape Town, in regard to the preparation and making out of certain jury lists; And whereas, in conseq'uence of the abolition of the office of collector of taxes, it becomes necessary to make other provision for the performance of the said duties: Be it therefore enacted by the Governor of the colony of the Cape of Good Hope, with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council thereof, that so much ofthe said Ordinance No. 84 of 1831 as imposes upon Certain partsofeertain or requires from the collector of taxes in Cape Town, the Ordinances repealed performance of any manner of duty in regard of the making out and preparation of any jury list or lists what ever, and so much of the 2d secti-ih of the Ordinance No. 13, 1844, entituled an Ordinance for transferring to certain other officers the duties of the office ofcollector of taxes as is repugnant to or inconsistent with the provisions of the Ordinance, shall be repealed, and the same is hereby repealed accordingly.
