Vinyl acetate is used mainly as a monomer for the production of polyvinyl acetate and vinyl acetate copolymers. This document provides a summary and evaluation of toxicological and epidemiological data on vinyl acetate, based on a review of scientific literature available to date of publication. It reviews the physico-chemical properties, sources, and environmental fate of vinyl acetate, its non-human toxicology, health effects of vinyl acetate on humans and factors affecting human susceptibility, and risk to humans of exposure to vinyl acetate. It concludes with an ambient air quality recommendation for vinyl acetate.
