With three bestselling books published, Khaya Dlanga is one of South Africa’s favourite authors. His ability to write candidly and authentically about himself and his world has resonated with readers from all walks of life. In March 2020 Khaya found himself bereaved, alone and facing an indefinite lockdown as a result of COVID-19. Like most of us, he turned to social media to maintain some human connection and his followers came through and kept him going. It’s The Answers For Me is the result of Khaya’s ongoing Q&A interactions with his followers on Instagram. It’s evidence of the genuine communities that are formed on social media: intensely human, at times strange and shocking, sometimes touching and often really funny. And it’s a record of a nation going through what have been the most bizarre (and longest) years in recent history. Khaya’s enviable gift for storytelling makes people want to hear his stories and also to trust him with theirs. From the secrets our parents think they keep from us, to the real reasons we stay in relationships, and venturing into many other everyday issues and situations, It’s The Answers For Me captures our collective mgowo.

Chemistry is widely considered to be the central science: it encompasses concepts on which all other branches of science are developed. Yet, for many students entering university, gaining a firm grounding in chemistry is a real challenge. Chemistry3 responds to this challenge, providingstudents with a full understanding of the fundamental principles of chemistry on which to build later studies.Uniquely amongst the introductory chemistry texts currently available, Chemistry3's author team brings together experts in each of organic, inorganic, and physical chemistry with specialists in chemistry education to provide balanced coverage of the fundamentals of chemistry in a way that studentsboth enjoy and understand. The result is a text that builds on what students know already from school and tackles their misunderstandings and misconceptions, thereby providing a seamless transition from school to undergraduate study. Written with unrivalled clarity, students are encouraged to engage with the text andappreciate the central role that chemistry plays in our lives through the unique use of real-world context and photographs.Chemistry3 tackles head-on two issues pervading chemistry education: students' mathematical skills, and their ability to see the subject as a single, unified discipline. Instead of avoiding the maths, Chemistry3 provides structured support, in the form of careful explanations, reminders of keymathematical concepts, step-by-step calculations in worked examples, and a Maths Toolkit, to help students get to grips with the essential mathematical element of chemistry. Frequent cross-references highlight the connections between each strand of chemistry and explain the relationship between thetopics, so students can develop an understanding of the subject as a whole.Digital formats and resourcesChemistry3 is available for students and institutions to purchase in a variety of formats, and is supported by online resources. The e-book offers a mobile experience and convenient access along with functionality tools, navigation features, and links that offer extra learning support: www.oxfordtextbooks.co.uk/ebooksThe e-book also features interactive animations of molecular structures, screencasts in which authors talk step-by-step through selected examples and key reaction mechanisms, and self-assessment activities for each chapter. The accompanying online resources will also include, for students:DT Chapter 1 as an open-access PDF;DT Chapter summaries and key equations to download, to support revision;DT Worked solutions to the questions in the book. The following online resources are also provided for lecturers:DT Test bank of ready-made assessments for each chapter with which to test your studentsDT Problem-solving workshop activities for each chapter for you to use in classDT Case-studies showing how instructors are successfully using Chemistry3 in digital learning environments and to support innovative teaching practicesDT Figures and tables from the book

Hey! I’m John Sullivan, a recent high school graduate who collected his thoughts and dreams and hopes and fears and all kinds of other stuff in a year-long diary through his senior year. When I finished on graduation day, I realized I had quite a collection, as a matter of fact, I had more than 400 pages! So I thought about it and realized that it had a beginning, a middle, and an end, so therefore it told a complete story, which I think might be a book if I remember my sophomore literature class correctly. I am NOT saying it is literature (ha-ha), but I do think it is a book. That is where you come in. I don’t think it is much of a book if I’m the only one who reads it. It is just a diary then, that will remain on the floppy disk in my computer desk in my bedroom. Instead, you could read it. And tell me what you think. And then I will know if I should have left it in that computer desk. Or not. If you do read it, you’ll find that I didn’t leave anything out, even the stuff that might embarrass me. I could even still get into some trouble about some of it, but I think I’m ok because I don’t think my parents will want to read it because they were there for almost all of it, so it would be a rerun for them. I don’t think reruns are bad, but they already lived through this once, so they probably don’t want to get all upset allover again. So, go ahead and click away. It was an adventure for me – come on along for the ride! John Sullivan is right. This is quite an undertaking for a senior in high school. But that is what it is – a diary, a coming of age novel, a satire, and, incredibly, a love story. It is a unique look at one of the most important developmental periods in a person’s life.

Ionic and covalent bonds are a piece of cake for MJ. But human bonds are a little harder ... There are only two things MJ wants in her final year of high school: 1) Glowing grades and ... 2) to convince uber-smart, chiselled-jaw Jason they'd be a winning team outside the science lab as well as in. Tutoring deadbeat drummer, Luke, isn't part of the plan. After all, he has average intelligence, takes disorganised notes and looks like a partied-out zombie at their study sessions Not even his taut biceps will win MJ over. But MJ learns that she could be tutored in a few life lessons too: That sometimes there's good reason to skip chemistry tutorials. That intelligence is so much more than a grade average. And that sometimes you can't beat the chemistry.
