This volume is devoted to different facets of QCD, stressing non-perturbative, analytic and lattice formulations, scattering solutions and approximations, and the understanding of recent RHIC experiments. It discusses ideas of the fifth dimension, originating in brane theory, as well as possible experimental tests and predictions of those ideas.

Progress in the improvement program in nonrelativistic lattice QCD is outlined. The leading radiative corrections to the heavy-quark mass renormalization, energy shift, and two important kinetic coupling coefficients are presented. The reliability of tadpole-improved perturbation theory in determining the energy shift and mass renormalization is demonstrated.

This volume presents a selection of current developments in quantum chromodynamics, with some emphasis on the borderline between the perturbative and the nonperturbative regime. The topics include: effective QCD, sum rules, vacuum structure, confinement, bound states, quark masses, lattice QCD, deconfinement, deep inelastic scattering and structure functions, strong coupling constant, radiative corrections.
