The Intelligent Vehicle Highway Systems (IVHS) program applies advanced and emerging technologies in such fields as information processing, communications, control, and electronics to surface transportation needs. Twenty eight inter-related user services have been defined to date as part of the national program planning process. This report describes those IVHS projects that are wholly or partially funded by the Department of Transportation's (DOT) modal administrations, including the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), the Federal Transit Administration (FTA), and National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The report is a complement to the National IVHS Program Plan, and is organized to describe those DOT-sponsored activities which support the development of user services, national compatibility planning, deployment, deployment support, and program assessment.
