In order to assess the ability of the New Brunswick hydrometric network to transfer data from gauged to ungauged sites, a regional hydrology study was undertaken. It was decided that regional regression equations provided the most appropriate approach and these were performed for mean, low and high flows. The transfer of daily flows with flow duration curves was also investigated. The various studies led to mean, low and high flow hydrologic regions as well as indications as to the deficiencies in the network. Based on these findings, a proposal was prepared for a minimum regional hydrology network as well as for a target or optimal regional hydrology network.

The New Brunswick Hydrometric Network Evaluation Committee undertook, as part of its review, the examination of uses of network data outputs and interpretation products. It commissioned a user survey, which, in conjunction with other information, provided the background for an asssessment of hydrometric data user needs. This report summarizes the user needs and provides recommendations.
