This directory provides information on organizations, government agencies, institutions of higher education, periodicals, publishers, and other resources useful to persons involved in the education of American Indian and Alaska Native students. Section 1 describes approximately 80 international, national, and multistate nongovernmental organizations, listed alphabetically in four categories: advocacy, networking, and reform; research, development, technical assistance, and training; funding and sponsorship; and youth leadership, mentoring, and service. Each entry includes contact information and a brief description. With age-appropriate, inquiry-centered curriculum materials and sound teaching practices, middle school science can capture the interest and energy of adolescent students and expand their understanding of the world around them. Resources for Teaching Middle School Science, developed by the National Science Resources Center (NSRC), is a valuable tool for identifying and selecting effective science curriculum materials that will engage students in grades 6 through 8.
