NATALIA was not prepared for the unexpected turn her life took. She moved from waiting tables and studying for finals, to shifting metals and manipulating stubborn elevators. It all started when she met Mark, a handsome bachelor, who’d requested that she take his order at Wine Dine, the restaurant she worked at. Mark’s generous tip that evening was questionable, and so was the phone number he left on his receipt. When she ran into him a week later, her best friend saw it as fate, and reluctantly, Natalia agreed to a date. A date, that unbeknownst to her, will bring unexpected joy, heartache, and a shocking discovery. Kidnapped . . . recruited, she’s now living in a world she never dreamed existed and enrolled at an academy, surrounded by others like her—who soon become friends—doing things with their bodies one could only dream about. From fire breathing to sound manipulation, O.E Academy has it all—and it all appears to be utterly wonderful. But she lost control of her life, and the perfect plan she once had was no longer within her reach. She belonged to someone else. To something else. Optimum Enim. Her life was no longer hers to do as she pleased—neither were her new powers—but to an organization, nonexistent to the world. Will she succumb and accept what fate has presented to her? Or will she stand her ground to uncover the hidden secrets within and find a way back to her mourning family? She has yet to find out just who she is and what she has always been. A bewildering discovery, a thread of unanswered questions, but it’s only the beginning. TERM ONE. Join Natalia in her New Beginnings journey!

She’s a thief. He’s a grifter. Game on. For Natalia Levin, life as a professional art thief is everything she hoped it would be. She travels the world, the pay is fantastic, and she gets to work in sweet, sweet solitude. But when a rival crew reaches out about joining forces to steal the one painting she’s always dreamed of, that’s an invitation she can’t resist. Natalia figures it’ll be easy to keep the new crew at arm’s length, but her plans hit a snag when she meets their leader: smooth-talking grifter Diego Cabrera. He’s a liar, a con man, and too slick for his own good, but he’s beguiling and handsome and one hell of a storyteller. Too bad she’s going to screw him over, anyway… But as Diego cranks up the charm, Natalia’s finding it harder and harder to keep up her charade. Not because she can’t outwit him, but because she’s starting to do the one thing she told herself she’d never do: trust him. With passions igniting, Natalia is starting to realize she’s made a terrible mistake: she put her heart on the line while playing a confidence game.

A gorgeously illustrated and interactive full-color guide to more than 181 birds of North America, based on the bestselling board game, Wingspan. Praised for its gorgeous illustrations, accurate portrayal of bird habitats, and its gameplay, the bird-focused board game Wingspan has become an international sensation, available in a dozen languages and selling more than 200,000 copies its first year. Celebrating Birds is the ultimate companion to the game for fans, as well as a beautiful and in-depth field guide for avian and nature enthusiasts. In addition to large-size representations of each bird and the most up-to-date bird descriptions provided by Cornell Lab of Ornithology, Celebrating Birds includes a step-by-step guide that can be used to take the game into the real world. Players can collect points based on the birds, nests, and various habitat and feeding clues they find outside. Artists and best friends Natalia Rojas and Ana Maria Martinez collaborated to create the beautiful depictions featured in the original Wingspan board game. Celebrating Birds features larger illustrations of the 170 North American birds from the game, plus eleven exciting new birds. With Celebrating Birds, players and amateur naturalists can discover details about many of the birds currently at risk for extinction. As the number of birds in the United States and Canada has declined precipitously, Celebrating Birds is a fun way to raise awareness, educate, encourage activism, and provide resources on some of the most important ecological issues facing us today.

Andac the narrator is the son of a Syrian and an Alan. Although he is a freeborn Roman citizen, he has always regarded himself as an outsider, and for this reason he feels that he is singularly equipped to tell the story of a young Roman matron who deliberately made herself an outsider by exiling herself from the aristocratic circle in which she was born. In spite of her fabulous wealth, Natalia is determined to emulate her famous grandmother, who lived for years as an ascetic in the harsh desert of the Holy Land. Natalia wants not only to dispose of all her wealth, but also to live in poverty, and to coerce her husband Valerian into a life of chastity. As the story develops, Andac and his friend Valerian see that Natalia's existence has become a life of desperation. For some unknown reason, she has convinced herself that she is worthless and one of the damned. She becomes more and more a fanatic as the years pass, struggling to follow the example of some of the extremists in Africa. At a later time, having moved to the Holy Land, Natalia becomes involved in the power struggle between the great patriarchs of the Eastern church. She has been in contact with Augustine of Hippo, Pelagius, Rufinus of Aquileia, Paulinus of Nola, Jerome, and the Patriarch of Alexandria. Andac survives both Natalia and Valerian. It is he who ultimately finds the cause of Natalia's desperation, and he does his best to tell her story in a way that will engender sympathy, while still preserving what he feels is her deserved reputation as a saint.
