The “thoroughly fun . . . [and] crazy good” memoir about one man’s life and how it was changed by the legacy of a rockabilly legend (Chicago Sun-Times). Buddy Holly, icon: black horn-rimmed glasses, blue jeans, a white T-shirt, white socks, loafers, and “Peggy Sue.” Not so much to Gary W. Moore. Admitting he “grew up in a Rock & Roll vacuum,” Gary favored jazz. He couldn’t name a single Buddy Holly song. Buddy Rich? Yes. But that changed in a single evening when Gary was dragged along to a Winter Dance Party in Cedar Falls, Iowa—a tribute to Buddy’s final, tragic 1959 tour. It was headlined by musician extraordinaire John Mueller, whose uncanny recreation of the legend was hailed by Buddy’s own brother Travis as “the best I’ve ever seen.” It took just one song to seize Gary’s heart and soul. From then on, for Gary, it was everything Buddy. In this inspiring “rock-and-rollercoaster of a read”, Moore shares his personal journey to learn more about Buddy’s life, music, his influence, his impact, and the times in which he lived (Bill Guertin, author of Reality Sells). He’d meet Buddy’s friends and family, celebrities, Buddy Holly fans, and make a new friend himself in John Mueller. The result is “as American as apple pie and as compelling as Don McLean’s legendary hit about The Day the Music Died” (James Riordan, New York Times–bestselling author).

A sweet and heart-tugging story about bullying, friendship, and fitting in, perfect for readers of Stand Tall, Molly Lou Melon Paula and Maggie have been friends forever. Paula thinks Maggie is the best—until mean girl Veronica says otherwise. Suddenly, Paula starts to notice that Maggie is big and clumsy, and her clothes are sort of snuggish. Rather than sticking up for Maggie, Paula ignores her old friend and plays with Veronica instead. Luckily, when Veronica turns on Paula, Maggie’s true colors shine through. This moving friendship story has all the heart and emotion of The Giving Tree and Kevin Henkes's Chrysanthemum. The gorgeous artwork and important message make this a book to treasure. It’s truly a classic in the making.

Best known for winning the Mr. Olympia title eight times, and for lifting every heavy weight in existence (including an 800-pound squat for two easy reps), Ronnie Coleman came from humble beginnings. Born in rural Louisiana to a single mother, Ronnie rose from poverty to achieve his lifelong goal of becoming the best bodybuilder in history. In the process, he learned about life, victory, triumph, defeat, hard work, determination, discipline, glory and adversity. In this book, Ronnie tells us the story his life, from his own perspective, all the way from childhood to the present. He covers, in great detail, all aspects of his journey, from his eight Olympias and his quest to become a muscleman, to the difficult years working at a fast food restaurant, to his love life, to the birth of his daughters, to the relationship with his mother, the rise of his supplement brand, to his back problems, and everything in between. With insights from bodybuilding legends like Arnold Schwarzenegger, Lee Haney, Jay Cutler, Phil Heath, Kevin Levrone, Flex Wheeler, and many others, Ronnie holds nothing back and truly exposes his life in a way he was never done before. "Ronnie became a whole new dimension. It was unbelievable. He showed bodybuilders that there was a whole other way of size and proportion."Arnold Schwarzenegger, 7-time Mr. Olympia (1970-1975, 1980), Hollywood superstar and former Governor of California. "The unbelievable story of the greatest bodybuilder the world has ever known." Men's Health Magazine "In the world of professional Bodybuilding the name Ronnie Coleman stands alone. Ronnie, did it to the extent that the sport may never witness again."Lee Haney, 8-time Mr. Olympia (1984-1991)"Ronnie Coleman was my idol and someone I looked up to tremendously. Discussion of the issues surrounding the destruction of cultural property in times of conflict has become a key issue for debate around the world. This book provides an historical statement as of 1st March 2006 concerning the destruction of the cultural heritage in Iraq. In a series of chapters it outlines the personal stories of a number of individuals who were - and in most cases continue to be - involved. These individuals are involved at all levels, and come from various points along the political spectrum, giving a rounded and balanced perspective so easily lost in single authored reports. It also provides the first views written by Iraqis on the situation of archaeology in Iraq under Saddam and an overview and contextualisation of the issues surrounding the looting, theft and destruction of the archaeological sites, the Iraqi National museum and the libraries in Baghdad since the war was launched in 2003. Beyond this, it examines our attitudes towards the preservation of cultural and heritage resources and, in particular, the growing political awareness of their importance. Although related to a single conflict, taking place at a specific time in history, the relevance of this work goes far beyond these self-imposed boundaries. PETER STONE is Professor of Heritage Studies and Head of School of Arts and Cultures at Newcastle University; JOANNE FARCHAKH BAJJALY is a Lebanese archaeologist and Middle East correspondent for the French magazine Archéologia.
