Winner of the 2019 New American Voices Award Longlisted for the PEN/Hemingway Award for Debut Novel Longlisted for the Aspen Words Literary Prize A Recommended Book of 2019 from: Southern Living * Buzzfeed * The Huffington Post * Bustle * Fierce * Hip Latina * Ms. Magazine * Alma * Library Journal * The Rumpus * The Millions * Refinery29 * Electric Literature A stunning debut novel about a young undocumented Peruvian woman fighting to keep her family afloat in New York City Ana Falcón, along with her husband Lucho and their two young children, has fled the economic and political strife of Peru for a chance at a new life in New York City in the 1990s. Being undocumented, however, has significantly curtailed the family’s opportunities: Ana is indebted to a loan shark who calls herself Mama, and is stretched thin by unceasing shifts at her factory job. To make matters worse, Ana must also battle both criticism from Lucho’s cousin—who has made it obvious the family is not welcome to stay in her spare room for much longer—and escalating and unwanted attention from Mama’s husband. As the pressure builds, Ana becomes increasingly desperate. While Lucho dreams of returning to Peru, Ana is deeply haunted by the demons she left behind and determined to persevere in this new country. But how many sacrifices is she willing to make before admitting defeat and returning to Peru? And what lines is she willing to cross in order to protect her family? The Affairs of the Falcónsis a beautiful, deeply urgent novel about the lengths one woman is willing to go to build a new life, and a vivid rendering of the American immigrant experience.

Given the choice between dealing with a psycho killer, a meddling mother and an all too sexy falcon, this poor doctor does what any sane lion would do—he takes a nice, long nap. Avian Soaring Security has transferred Clarice to the Furry United Coalition so she can help track some escaped psycho patients. As if that weren’t bad enough, they partnered her with the very pampered Dr. Manners. Everything about the attractive feline annoys her, except for his flaming hot kisses. But is passion enough to keep a usually sparring species together? Nolan’s pedigree isn’t the only thing preventing him from falling for his sexy partner. She’s bossy, violent, rude and oh so intriguing to this curious cat, but his meddlesome mother will never allow him to get involved with a bird. But before he can decide if love is worth bucking pride tradition, he needs to stay out of the clutches of a demented ex-patient. Furry United Coalition (F.U.C): A series is loaded with giggle out loud moments, raunchy innuendo and the strangest shapeshifters you’ll ever meet, including a killer bunny. It’s also full of romance and great, if mismatched, couples. Book order: Bunny and the Bear, Swan and the Bear, Croc and the Fox, Lion and the Falcon, Doe and the Wolf , Ostrich and the 'Roo Genre: paranormal romance, werewolf romance, shapeshifter romance, fantasy romance, alpha male, bear romance, humorous romance, comedy romance

This book describes my on-again, off-again affair with a "studio scale" special effects filming model the "Millennium Falcon"(R). When I first saw it on the big screen in 1977 in a new movie called "Star Wars" (R). I was completely captivated by it. Over the next 42 years I would draw it, draft it, build models of it and when possible purchase collectibles. This is my story of discovery and my pursuit to have a perfect replica of this now iconic space ship of the future.I include photos of a T-shirt that I had made over the holidays in 1977, with a bow view sketch of the Millennium Falcon® on the front and a stern view sketch on the back of the shirt. I then present my process for drafting and producing, what might have been a bestselling old school "blue print" poster of the Falcon in 1983 with an interesting back story if I had only had the time and money to obtain licenses and then market it. Who knows my back story for this poster might have impacted the "Star Wars" (R) Universe... I then have photos and descriptions of my efforts to make one accurate Falcon model by using two plastic model kits after I completed my "blue print" poster project in August of 1983. I have comparison sketches and descriptions of my observations of the differences between the 5 foot studio scale special effects model made for the first movie and the second 32 inch studio scale model made for the second movie.I also include scale dimensions for a full size Falcon based on measurements of a well-designed scale model using the current accepted length of the vehicle. The print version of this book has 150 pages that contain: 53 color plates, 17 color diagrams, 3 color comparison sketches, 1 color graph, 2 black and white plates and 2 tables. The Appendix also contains an additional 18 color plates, 2 black and white plates and 12 black and white drawings.Qi PressFirst Printing November 2019

In her latest novel, the author of Another You combines intensely realistic description and an effortless command of mood to examine the treacherous difference between love and fascination--between what we know about other people and what we think we know. Dara Falcon is someone other people think they know. Charismatic and theatrical, she has no sooner arrived in a New England town than she is wreaking havoc in the lives of her new friend Jean and her family. As Ann Beattie follows Dara's antics, she braids subplots and vibrant characters into a work that is compassionate, tartly funny, and teeming with life.
