Muskrat for Supper inspires young people to explore nature's life cycles and understand the concept of the circle of life, as told through the tale of a family that embarks on a hunting and trapping adventure. It is an endearing story that weaves together such themes as sustainable living, our natural environment, and living closer to nature. The first book for children by this acclaimed storyteller and author, Muskrat for Supper includes questions young people have asked Kenny Salwey about his lifestyle as a river rat living off the land. The story will be illustrated with black-and-white photographs as well as nonfiction material to supplement the text.

“When Grandma Was a Little Girl” is a hand-written and beautifully illustrated collection of reminisces of growing up on a farm on the Saskatchewan prairies in the mid-1900’s. Sit with author Joyce Anders Sproule as she immerses us in her childhood, and shows us what it was like for children to do chores, care for animals, tend a garden, go to school, play, and wonder about the world outside of the farm. The joys of dances, music, skating, and cloud-gazing -- as well as the dangers of close calls -- and the atmosphere of World War II are all remembered by the author and shared with today’s reader. Sproule captures the innocence, curiosity and bravado of childhood in a whimsical, heartfelt, and beautifully illustrated family memoir that is a joy to read with your children and grandchildren.

Grandfathers can have a positive influence on their grandkids. The author writes how a grandson develops an interest and a love for the sport of trapping muskrat and mink. First, Pap Keller gives his grandson Lance a brief history of trapping. Then Pap Keller and Lance start planning and making preparations for their trapping adventure together. This is followed with scouting missions and actual trapping on Big Fishing Creek in central Pennsylvania. The author shows excellent illustrations of trapping sets used to catch muskrat and mink. The descriptions and habits for muskrats and mink are included as well as a list of recommended trapping equipment. Having read this book, the reader will have enough beginning knowledge to start his own trapline. A must-read for the beginning trappers!

Fair Chase and Other Tales is a very unique book in the wonderful field of families and adventure stories. Many books are about grizzly attacks and the like, but this book is amazing in its variety. Crazy bear stories, yes, but also tales about muskrats, weasels, doll sheep, Native's sacred hunting grounds, bucks in a death struggle with each other, lost wife in the wilderness, kids coming of age and all-in-all a terrific assortment about a family finding its way and each other in the wild. It has opened to some rave reviews by old and young alike. One review begins, "I couldn't put the book down, Josh couldn't either" The same will be true of you. The homespun style is compelling and honest. -------- Publisher
